Insanity

Right now I feel like I'm running a rat race in a life that is completely insane. I mean how in the world can I possibly find so many things that "need" to be done in such a short period of time? I just can't seem to get things caught up . . . and yet I still find some time to update this blog, facebook, and of course check e-mail. I'm trying desperately to take to heart my friend Elaine's philosophy that some things simply just have to wait, but it's hard for me! So, although I NEED to be completing my final for the online class that I'm taking to renew my teaching license, I just WANTED to take a minute to share a few highlights from this week.

I'll start with my K-Mart trip this morning. It's super doubles again this week and here are the 49 items that I cost me a whopping $34!!! I saved over $133 in coupons so it was well worth the 57 extra minutes I had to wait after checking out so the cashier could determine which 10 of 50 coupons didn't scan!! AHH!!! Savannah was awesome and really helped me out with being super patient as they went through the mile long receipt item by item.

Yesterday was crazy as I negotiated buying a crib off of Craig's list for our new little boy. It was worth the 2 trips I made to Fort Mill, having to eat a 3:00 lunch and take a 7 minute shower at 2:45 (before my 3:00 tutoring appointment) because we got a really nice crib for an awesome price. I can't wait to get it all reassembled and start our new nursery.

Wednesday Savannah had her first ever big boo boo! She was running through the house and hit her little head smack on the corner of our chair rail on the wall. It immediately swelled up, but I iced it before heading out the door to Bible study and gave her some Motrin. She woke up Thursday still complaining about her head hurting, but seems to be better now.

Tomorrow I'm off to meet my friend Heather who is visiting from Florida. We're going to hit a consignment sale in Concord and then do lunch.

Vacation is just a week away . . . and we all NEED it! :)

The Sleep Report

I just got a call from Dr. Stern's nurse and the doctor has determined that Savannah does NOT have sleep apnea!!! Yeah, no surgery for her!! I did tell the nurse that I was still concerned about her night episodes and wanted to know what to do about them. She said she would check with Dr. Stern and get back to me. But for now, we're cleared. Thank you Lord!!!

The "Sleep" Study

Here are a few pictures. I'm off to shower and then nap, but will update with details later!

Before the final face sensors were placed.

All hooked up and sound asleep. AMAZING!

Ready to go home this morning! Thanks Miss Margaret!

Okay, so I never got my nap, but I do feel a little more caught up around here now. I wanted to take just a minute and brag on my little girl and how awesome she did last night. We arrived promptly at 7pm and soon met Miss Margaret. I had prayed hard that God would provide the perfect person to be our technician as I knew it would be one-on-one and that they would be monitoring our every move. Thankfully, God sent Margaret, who was too incredible to even explain. She greeted Savannah so warmly and told her as we were going up to the room that they were going to have so much fun at their sleepover playing dress up and doing hair. Well, dress up and hair they did do! By the end of the process, Savannah had 25 sensors (15 on her head alone) glued to her little body with all kinds of colored wires. The worst part for her was the nose piece that was there to monitor the oxygen she was breathing through her nose. She hated that thing, but managed to keep it in most of the night.

She was so worn out that about 15 minutes after the last piece was in place, Savannah was fast asleep. She slept about 4 hours before waking up and trying to jerk the oxygen monitor out of her nose. Ouch. It was taped to her little face! Anyway, the great thing about being monitored so closely was that once Savannah sat up and started to pull at the thing, Margaret was in our room before I could even reach over to take care of Savannah. She calmly put it back in place and told Savannah that she had to wear it until morning. Back to sleep she went for a little bit.

The hardest part of the night for me was the 3 hour period from 1-4 when Savannah refused to go back to sleep. I tried everything, but she just wasn't relaxing enough to fall asleep. Finally around 4:15 she drifted off and slept until 6:15 when Margaret woke us up to get ready to go home.

Praise the Lord that it's all over. I'm not sure my pregnant belly could take another night without sleep, in a recliner again anytime soon! Miss Margaret said that she noted a couple of events, but nothing serious. Hopefully this means that we won't need to have Savannah's tonsils removed, but we won't know anything for sure until the doctor gets his report to us by the end of the week. I'm praying for some clear answers and for assurance that Savannah is perfectly healthy!

Savannah Update

I know my mom is worrying herself to death, so for the record Savannah is a okay! We saw Dr. Baker this morning and he determined that a good old enema was what Savannah needed. So, after finally finding a pediatric one at Walgreens, Savannah is all cleaned out. Those things work within minutes, literally! Hopefully now she won't be afraid to go regularly!

Children Updates

On the baby front, I finally felt the baby move yesterday afternoon!! How exciting. I had forgotten how fun it is to feel movement and have that reassurance that everything is okay. Things are still going well with my pregnancy, other than some minor carpal tunnel that has already started.

Savannah, however, is a different story. She hasn't been poopy on the potty since last Thursday and has me very worried. I've called the doctor at least 3 different times and tried everything from Miralax to a high fiber diet, to letting her wear a pull up to try to potty, but nothing seems to be working. I will be taking her in to see Dr. Baker tomorrow morning is she still doesn't go today. The appointment with the sleep specialist went well yesterday. He doesn't think she has sleep apnea because she's not a regular snorer, but wants to do a sleep study just to make sure. Hopefully he's right and she is just experiencing irregular breathing during REM sleep. If he's wrong, and she does have sleep apnea, then we'll have to have her tonsils and adenoids removed. Either way, I'll be sleeping on a cot (in the pediatric sleep lab, 6 months pregnant) with Savannah to find out what's going on with her sleep issues. Is there a type of doctor that we haven't seen yet??

Happy Valentine's Day!

Savannah opening her new Dora Valentine book!
Opening her new Chutes and Ladders game

We had a great Saturday celebrating Valentine's Day. Dave started the morning by making waffles for all of us and then we let Savannah open her gifts. After naptime we headed out to dinner (big mistake), but at least we made it home in time for Savannah to go straight to bed. I wish we had taken time to take a few pictures of Savannah. She was a doll in her new red tutu skirt from Gymboree. I originally bought it for play dress up clothes, but when she saw it Saturday afternoon she insisted on wearing it. She wore it well and got lots of compliments if I must say so myself. :) Anyway, after she was in bed Dave and I enjoyed our annual piece of Adam's peanut butter cup cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory. Yum-O! Oh yeah, Dave also surprised me with an ice-cream cake from Baskin Robbins on Friday afternoon. That and the cheesecake will be my last big desserts before the glucose test next month.

Friendship Award

My sweet friend Christy passed this award onto me. Thanks, Christy! I'm glad you enjoy our blog!

This is what the award is for:
"These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find friends and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships will be propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly- written text into the body of their award."

I am passing this along to a couple of Blogs that I love to read!
Anna, Chelle, Donna, Heather, Jessica, Laurie, Lorie, Marie you're all next. Thanks for sharing your daily lives through your awesome blogs!

16, 4, 1.2, 1+, 9

My OB appointment was today and here's the latest. If anyone can explain how this happened please comment!

16 - the pounds I gained in
4 - weeks!!!
1.2 - the weight of our baby boy right now
1+ - the number of weeks he's measuring ahead
9 - the cloud we're on to know that this baby is growing healthy and strong!

I guess I have to lay off of the smarties and sweet tarts, especially since the glucose test is next month! So now that it's officially a boy, any name suggestions???

Problems with Poop

After two weeks of being potty trained in terms of pee peeing on the potty, we were still struggling with going #2 on the potty. It was even to the point of hurting her to go poopy and night after night of her crying that her tummy hurts. Still today she had an accident at school and pooped in her panties. I have talked to friends, researched online, and even finally called the doctor today to find out what to do . . . and then, magically she did it! She started crying during her nap saying that she needed to go poopy and I rushed upstairs, put her on the potty and after several minutes she went! Praise the Lord! Now I'm not dumb enough to think that our problem is solved, but at least she's done it one time and knows that she can do it again.

The only problem now is that we promised her Baskin Robbins pink ice cream with m&ms on top when she pooped in the potty and the nurse just told me to avoid dairy. Oh well, she deserves a treat so we're going out for ice cream tonight! :)

Welcome Warmth

It's hard to believe that after highs of only 19 on Wednesday, we were able to play outside (without a coat) on Saturday!! Dave and I decided that we'd take full advantage of a beautiful day and go to the park with Savannah. We even packed a picnic lunch. It was so nice to enjoy the warmer weather for a change.

On Sunday we ventured to Greenville for Dave's sister's birthday lunch. Again, the weather was awesome. Knowing how hot Savannah gets in the car we decided to dress her for spring . . . so she sported her Easter dress from last year along with white shoes (I know it was too early for white shoes, but she didn't care). She and her cousin Alyssa played outside in tightless legs for quite awhile on Sunday. Ahhh . . . I'm loving this weather and the thought of lots of time outside this week.

A Surprise Snow

We woke up this morning and were shocked to see everything covered in snow. Thankfully, it wasn't a school day for Savannah so that made me a little happier to see the white stuff. When she first got out of bed I told her I had a surprise for her and opened her blinds. She immediately said "more snow . . . for me?" So I agreed that we could go out a little later and play. I managed to hold her off until around 11, when we finally bundled up and headed out. It's still not a good snowman snow, but maybe daddy can work some magic when he gets home.

On a different note, when I was in the shower today Savannah came running into the bathroom saying that the phone was ringing. I told her to answer it and amazingly enough, she did! I didn't get the message, but thankfully the student who needed tutoring called back awhile later. He gave me the rundown of the phone conversation, which was mostly about "the snow outside the window." Maybe I should start letting her answer the telemarketing calls too.

Just too Cute!

Last night this is what I found after hearing much chaos upstairs. My amazingly wonderful husband always does the bath time routine with Savannah and usually I do the hair drying. However, last night I was busy doing dishes so he did the entire process! It always seems that daddy allows extras . . . so tonight the princess had her hair dried in her princess chair along with Pooh bear, definitely something mommy wouldn't have allowed time for!
