Today Savannah was able to go to Chapel Hill on a German field trip with school. She competed in the German verb competition . . . and was frustrated that she made a careless error in the third round causing her to lose. Never the less, it was a fun way to spend a day of school! The best part was meeting up with her friend Claire, who is a freshman at UNCCH. Claire was able to give Savannah a personal tour, have a meal in the dining hall, and talk to her all about freshman life on campus. It was a LONG day (they left school at 5am) because the stupid school bus got blocked in and they departed much later than anticipated, but a good experience and a fun trip!

Soccer Fans
This weekend Preston had a soccer showcase in Browns Summitt, which is pretty close to my family so we were thrilled when they were able to come cheer him on! The second Saturday game was pretty miserable with cold downpours of rain and wind, but thankfully Pawpaw and Teresa came to the first game and didn't have to deal with the rain. By the end of the second game, this kid was NASTY. We were all so thankful to be able to come home and sleep in our own beds (and get his white uniform washed for the Sunday game).
Uncle Mark made it to the game today and was able to cheer him on while Savannah and I stayed behind in Charlotte. It was a crazy busy weekend, but thankfully we enjoy watching this kid play!

Ms. Independent
Savannah's tire light came on when she was headed to school today. She had to go straight to work after school but she knew enough to get it taken care of. I met her after school just to make sure it was okay to drive on and just watched her at work. She had already checked each tire with the gauge to determine which one was low and was able to refill it enough to get to work. Then after Cakeable, it was straight to dad's work to get the nail out. She did great!

Back on the Road for SOCCER
Today Preston started the travel season with his first game in Clover, SC. Although it was a super tough game that they lost, it still makes my heart happy to see games begin with a prayer huddle. It's not always about winning and losing, but what you learn and how you play as a team!

A Much Needed Refresh
Savannah, Mrs. Celia, and Anna Kate
Savannah was able to attend our church's girls-only Refresh retreat today. It was a much-needed break from the crazy world of high school, college classes, and mostly college decisions! It's been a stressful few weeks as we wait (on scholarship information) and trust the Lord to see if she ends up at UNC Chapel Hill or Clemson. Nevertheless, she looks pretty cute in Carolina blue :)
So today I'm once again reminded of how grateful I am for our church that so intentionally pours into our children and for the women of the church who faithfully love, serve, and lead by example. It's pretty cool that she has such wonderful girlfriends she has known since birth too.
She sent me this picture . . . because you know all high school girls are obsessed with Converse!

Valentine's Crazy Style
Although all of the gifts didn't arrive in time, they enjoyed the ones that did come earlier this week. They each had a snack treat and then some fun things to enjoy too. Dave surprised me with a new bonsai tree that arrived later in the day and will soon be named. I also had some yummy sweettarts and smarties treats. . . and of course another Dave creation card. :) :)
We managed to get through the crazy day with early release school, Shipt, picking up our annual Cheesecake Factory cheesecake, delivering a meal to a friend, church, and late soccer practice. By the time the boys got home Savannah was already in bed. We're learning to just roll with the crazy . . .
Nevertheless, it was fun to celebrate today and to be reminded of what a gift it is to have each other! It's rarely easy with the circus we run, but it's always a blessing to know at the end of the day we have a house where everyone is deeply loved.
