A Night Out!!

Outside at the reception
My hair isn't actually that crazy, it was REALLY windy.
Just the girls!

This past weekend we attended the wedding of two of our close friends, Dave and Heather, now the Karhans!! We've waited for this day for a long time and truly had a BLAST at their reception . . . only it was quite a distance from our house (1 1/2 hours). As many of you know our precious daughter does not go to sleep for anyone other than me so it was quite a test of our faith to leave her for such a long period of time. However, there were many people praying that everything would be okay while we were away and of course it was.

My mom was practically jumping for joy at the thought of some one on one time with her granddaughter and she did a great job with her. We called at around 7:30 to make sure everything was going well, and when mom said she was asleep I knew one of two things: either she had duct taped her mouth or she was actually, miraculously asleep. Once I trusted that she was okay, Dave and I relaxed and had our first date night in over 10 months. What a great night with each other and our cherished friends.

Naptime

Or lack of it! Today Savannah decided that she didn't need to take a nap. This is my most treasured time of the day and needless to say I was a little frustrated when I couldn't get her to sleep at all! Finally, after over an hour of whining in her crib, I put her in the exersaucer to watch a video so I could tutor. A little later one of the girls said "Is she asleep in that thing?" Of course she was, now that I gave up trying to make her sleep. I think she's quite a stubborn little child . . . wonder where she gets that from??

Beep Beep

One of Savannah's new summer toys is her "beep beep" as we call it. At first she LOVED it and was so excited to ride it each afternoon that she would literally bounce up and down as we rode down the street. However, now she's found something a little more interesting, the wheels. While we're in motion, she just leans over and grabs the back wheels as we're going down the street. It drives me crazy so I think we're going to take a break from it for awhile! Here's a picture of her grabbing the wheel again today.

Thankful

Ever have a day where you're going as fast as you can, to do as much as you can, as efficiently as you can and then suddenly something hits you like a ton of bricks? Today was one of those days for me. I was headed out the door for a jog and God really spoke to me. I realized how thankful I am to have the job I do. Not only am I thankful for my job, but I love my job. Don't get me wrong, there are hard days, but in the end the blessings far outweigh the trials. I'm so thankful for a supportive and loving husband who's willing to let me play with our precious daughter at home every day!

Night Terrors

Well we've had two pretty scary nights . . . all of the sudden Monday night around 11pm Savannah awoke screaming and banging her legs on the crib. I rushed into the nursery and tried to comfort her. After about 20 minutes of trying to calm her down we finally put her back in the crib, screaming and all. This also happened Tuesday night. So, by Wednesday morning I was convinced that something was wrong. I called the doctor and of course they thought it was her ears and wanted to see her.

After dragging her into see Dr. Baker once again, the result was the same . . . perfectly healthy. Dr. Baker is so wonderful!! He is always patient and loving with Savannah. His conclusion was that she is having night terrors (different from nightmares) and that she probably doesn't remember any of it in the morning. Whew! Sometimes it's worth the copay just to have a peace of mind.

Paper Shredder

Almost every day Savannah amazes me by trying (or getting into) something new. Today it was paper shredding. We're sitting at the weekly library program and she is suddenly very fussy and keeps trying to squirm out of my arms. I finally gave in and what does she go for? The paper that the songs and stories are listed on. Not only did she just want our paper, but she wanted all of the other kid's papers too. Then she proceeds to shred the sheets, piece by piece she ripped each and every page into about 10 different pieces. Thank goodness that we weren't the only ones making a scene yesterday! This new found skill continued last night as I was tutoring. She was again fussy and so I decided to hold her for a few minutes while tutoring. Again, she reached right for Miss Erica's quiz paper and started ripping . . . oh my!

Happy Easter

Here is a picture from Easter Sunday. We decided just to do an Easter bag with some goodies instead of an Easter basket filled with candy that I'd eventually end up eating. Much unlike the child at Christmas, Savannah tore into the bag and ripped open the presents. She finally has her own set of keys so she can stop eating mine! :) We had a great whirlwind trip to Burlington to visit the family.

The Beginning of blogging . . .

I started this blog to help keep our dear friends and family up to date on what's happening here in Charlotte. I hope you enjoy reading it and keeping track of Savannah!!

This has already been a busy season for us as we've been travelling A LOT. We've been to several different birthday parties and just recently ventured out for our first vacation to Charleston with child in tow. That was an experience! I've posted a few pictures from our recent trip to Charleston, SC where Dave ran in the Cooper River Bridge race. Here is a picture of Savannah cheering for "dada".

Here is a picutre of me with Savannah after the race.
