Preston's First Haircut

I can hardly believe that my baby had his first real haircut today! Dave has been begging me to get it cut for weeks now so today was finally the day. We went to Pigtails and Crewcuts and they did an amazing job!! Here are before, during, and after pictures!

Check out this hair before!

For the most part, Preston did really well . . . although he refused to wear a cape!

Our Big News . . . Finally

Well, after about 7 weeks, we are finally excited to announce that Dave will be starting a new job on September 13! I know some of you don't think that is huge news, but we are pretty excited around here. It has been neat to see God at work throughout this process so I'll share briefly . . .

First of all, this job had been posted for probably over a month and the application process had been closed when Dave got a call from a former co-worker who told him that he needed to send in his resume. When he found out that it was with the company he has dreamed of working with for years, he immediately sent in his resume thinking we really had nothing to lose. The very next day he got a call to come in for an interview (the first of SIX that he had). It was at this interview that he found out over 250 people had applied and they had already narrowed the candidates down to 12. He would be lucky #13. :) Over the course of the next 5 weeks he went in for interview after interview and we just kept praying that if this is where God wanted Dave He would open up the right doors. When the general manager's assistant called our house to ask Dave to come in for interview #6 I just laughed in her face. oops. Anyway, it was at that interview that the GM offered Dave the job. He basically said it came down to Dave and one other guy and he couldn't' decide . . . so he went on information from two people who currently worked at the dealership and had worked with Dave before. I think that speaks volumes of my hubby that a former employee and co- manager spoke so highly of him.

So, we are pretty excited! Nothing was official until we returned from vacation and he met with the corporate people to discuss salary and benefits (since he never saw the posting we had no idea what the salary was), but as of yesterday he submitted his resignation and has 2 weeks left to work at Sonic. Then it's on to City Chevrolet to officially be an employee of Hendrick Automotive!! What a blessing it will be to work for a Christian man in a dealership that is profitable and with a great staff too. Now if I can just stop panicking over changing insurance and the minor stuff . . .

Hilton Head 2010

We just returned from our annual trip to Hilton Head. Although I'd like to say we are all well rested, the best thing to say is that our kids had a blast! We spent time each morning on the beach and although the weather was a little iffy most mornings, we ended up having lots of fun playing in the sand. For Preston it was his first real visit to the ocean and he definitely enjoyed getting dirty. You can see in this first picture that he loved the sand . . . eating it, throwing it, digging in it, and even walking on it. Yes, I said walking. He isn't quite walking solo (although he did take a few solo steps) but can make good progress holding one of my fingers. :)

Preston enjoying the sand . . . check out the sand spots on his head!

I love this picture of my two kiddos!!

Mom, why are you still taking pictures???

This was a daily activity for Dave and the kids. He'd dig holes and fill them with water to play in. After Preston wore out, or the weather spoiled the fun, we'd head back to the villa and have lunch, shower and enjoy naptime. We took a few rides on bikes, but not too many because it was HOT!

Overall, it was a fun trip. Now we're gearing up for Fall!!! Here we come school and consignment sales! :)

Oh, and I'll be sure to post soon about our exciting news.

A Dinner Celebration

We enjoyed a dinner out tonight at Firebirds, one of our favorite restaurants, to celebrate something huge in the Bachmann house! After a super long, 5 week process, we finally received answers today and are thrilled at the way God has opened doors for our family. I can't really say too much just yet, but wanted to send out a special thank you to those close friends who have prayed us through each step of this journey. You know you have special friends when they are as excited as you are! Details to follow . . . but will have to wait until after vacation.

A Taylor Hello and Farewell

This past weekend was super busy for us! We first celebrated my birthday on Friday and then packed up and hit the road early Saturday morning for Burlington. We had a family reunion on Sunday and couldn't wait to meet our new niece Taylor! We always feel so rushed . . . so we decided to make it a weekend affair and stay overnight. First up was meeting baby Taylor!!! She is just adorable and looks like she is also going to have red hair like her siblings. :)

After loving on her awhile, we picked up Maddie and Dillon and headed for the city park. These kids LOVE the park and Savannah has been talking about going again all summer. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day . . . nice breeze, not too hot, and overcast. It was great. However, our kiddos quickly wore out and we headed to grandmas for a special McDonald's lunch. Here are a few pictures from the park.

Pawpaw with the girls

Pawpaw and Preston

After church on Sunday we made a quick appearance at the family reunion, grabbed some delicious food, and then hit the road with our exhausted, unnapped children headed for Charlotte.

Some of our best friends, The Taylors, are moving to Greenville and we helped plan a farewell party for them. It was a blast and huge success with 59 people coming (counting children and adults). I cannot even begin to express how sad I am to say farewell to Jessica & Russ as they transition to a new home in a new city. They have prayed us through some of the most difficult times in our lives, prayed for our children before they were even conceived, and been there for our family in countless ways. How thankful I am that they aren't moving too far and that I know our friendship will last forever! Russ and Jessica, we wish you the best and can't wait to visit soon!!

Happy 32!!!

If there's one thing I'm sure of it's that my little Savannah was super excited to celebrate my birthday today. She still has a hard time understanding that big people don't always have parties, but thanks to Dave, she really does think everyone who has a birthday has to have a cake. Thankfully, I convinced him to scale it back and we ended up with cupcakes instead of a huge cake this year . . . but they were specially made Coldstone cupcakes, complete with pink icing and sprinkles!! Yumm0! They were supposed to be a surprise, but when Savannah greeted Dave at the door yesterday she saw him put them in the outside freezer and must have told me 100 times today that I had cupcakes in the freezer. :) I love how she's so sweet and innocent with just spilling everything she knows.

Anyway, I had an awesome day with lots of cards in the mailbox, calls from family and friends, facebook messages, and of course dinner out! How thankful I am that the Lord blessed me with another healthy year. Here's to many more!!!

All in a Saturday

Today has been super busy, but tons of fun! Savannah and I started the morning with our first consignment sale of the season. It was nothing to rush over for, but we definitely had fun picking out a few cute things for the Fall. Then we headed to a birthday party. It was a special polka dot party and lots of the girls were wearing polka dots. Of course I forgot my camera. :( The kids had a blast and enjoyed some yummy cake too.

After that we picked up our pottery from last week and got Savannah a special pink ball from Borders (only because I had a coupon for a FREE one and it's beside the pottery place). After all of that fun, I brought her home and went to have lunch with my sweet friend Leslie who I haven't seen in quite a long time. We spent over an hour just talking and catching up! Ahhh, to have lunch out twice in one week without the kids, now that is a treat!

After naps this afternoon we headed out to dinner and ended up getting ice cream too. So, with my special birthday coupons we all ate at Qdoba and Ben and Jerry's for only $3.17 . . . sweet!! I'll just restart the diet on Monday.

Cousin Fun!

This weekend Dave's sister and her girls came for a visit. For days Savannah had talked about having Alyssa spend TWO nights at her house and couldn't wait for them to arrive. We had a lot of fun and did many activities including: painting pottery, bowling, riding in the Barbie jeep, making crafts, swinging, and eating lots of yummy food! We attempted to do a cousin picture at Portrait Innovations . . . and let me tell you I dislike that place even more after our last visit. It gives me chills to just think about how they squeal at the kids and Preston showed them just how much he hated it too. We didn't get one single picture that was even worth looking at on the big screen. So, after over an hour of bribing the kids with puffs, we packed up and left! Here's an example of what we were dealing with, a Preston tantrum. This one just happens to be in his high chair, but lately his favorite way to show his dislike of something is to hit his head on the floor and scream. When that doesn't work, he rolls over hands above his head and lays flat on his back screaming. Yep, gotta love this stage! So needless to say we have no pictures. ;(

Here is a morning fun picture of the kids playing in the tent. The big girls loved playing with the babies!

The girls were super excited about bowling, but only lasted a game and two frames of the second game. Oh well, they were free games so we packed up and left!

It was a super fun weekend and we are glad to have been able to spend some quality time with Susan and the girls!!
