Miscellaneous Stuff

I have discovered a few new money saving tips this week. First of all, I found out today that Wal-Mart will actually take competitor coupons!! Yesterday I got over $150 in product coupons valid at Lowe's Improvement in the mail and called this morning to verify that Wal-Mart would take them. I cannot believe that it worked perfectly! If anyone is looking for a money maker, they have a swiffer duster extender with a magazine rebate on the tag. The item is only $8.97 (before my Lowe's coupon) and you can submit for a $12 refund instead of a magazine!!

Also, I found out that the register rewards that print at Walgreens will also work at Harris Teeter. At the top it says manufacturer coupon and I had no trouble using them at Harris Teeter. :)

On a different note, we finally completed the evaluation for Preston's speech and he qualifies!! I did the paperwork this week and as soon as our case manager finds a good fit for a therapist we'll begin in home speech therapy.

Finally a shout out to Papa Bachmann and Deborah! Wishing you both a Happy Birthday with many more to come! :) Also, sorry your cards will be a bit delayed. And a prayer for fast healing for my dad who should come home from the hospital today with a new knee.

A Welcomed Slow-Down

I have to say that when we woke up to a winter wonderland yesterday I was more than excited for lots of reasons. One, I knew Dave would be home for the day, two, I knew we were stuck at home and I would be able to catch up from the previous week and three, of course we'd have lots of fun outside in the snow!!

Last week consisted of:
  • 3 mystery shops
  • 5 appointments (dentist, doctors, speech)
  • 1 school tour
  • MOPS meeting where I had to do a quick money saving presentation
  • Planning of a triplet baby shower
  • Hosting the said shower on Sunday afternoon
  • WEE school
  • 3 hours of tutoring
  • 1 Music class for Preston
  • A very whinny, sick pre-schooler
  • A teething toddler (needing to be rocked EVERY night at various times)
  • MOPS planning meeting
  • Un-decorating the house
  • Plus the regular cooking, cleaning, errands, exercise, etc
  • Oh, did I mention it was month end for Dave???

So, I had been looking forward to the beginning of this week for quite some time. I have to say Monday did not disappoint! It was such a relaxing day and a real treat to be able to accomplish so much! We had a blast playing out in the snow with all of the neighborhood kids who migrated to our driveway (the steepest in the neighborhood) and then enjoyed a long, quiet afternoon as both kids slept until after 5pm! Dave and I had time for lots of games of cards and each had time to do a few things we needed to accomplish too.

I really didn't even mind that there was no school today since I'm still plugging away at the to-do list . . . it's a good thing too because our driveway is now a solid sheet of ice!

This has been an awesome weekend! We always celebrate Christmas with Dave's family the weekend before or after Christmas so this was the chosen weekend! They arrived on Friday afternoon and let me tell you there was one little girl who was counting the minutes until they came. As soon as they walked in the door it was time to start playing . . . from puzzles to games to reading books, my kids really enjoyed having Grammy and Papa here for the weekend. Dave and I managed to stay up to see the New Year come in and then it was off to bed!

Saturday was filled with busyness as Dave's sister and her family came. The kids had so much opening presents and playing with lots and lots of new toys. We were truly showered with gifts!!! I have to say that although we received very valuable gifts, by far my favorite one was a hand written voucher . . . good for 3 DAYS, 2 NIGHTS of CHILDCARE!!!!! I can hardly stand it just thinking about when and where Dave and I are going to escape to. At least it'll be something to look forward to during this next crazy week.

After church today and a quick lunch (oh, and another game) Grammy and Papa left. As I'm tying this now Savannah is moaning, "I miss Grammy and Papa." We look forward to seeing them again soon. :)
