Thanksgiving Travels

With all of our travels, I can't believe this is the only picture I have from Thanksgiving!

We enjoyed a lot of family time this weekend!  Thanksgiving day we attempted to run the annual neighborhood turkey-trot, only we found out at the last minute that it was canceled because the lady who normally *runs* it was out of town.  So Dave and I took a quick jog around the neighborhood before heading down to Simpsonville, SC to do Thanksgiving with his family.

On Saturday we traveled to Mebane to do Thanksgiving with my family.  We ate a LOT, laughed, and enjoyed just being together.  Even though I only got one picture it's crazy to look at the kids and realize how grown up they are. :(  I promise more pictures for Christmas!

In the meantime, we have so so much to be grateful for.  Even though Preston is on crutches from his surgery, we are counting our blessings!  From good doctor reports to our health and the gift of having family, we are grateful!  Praying I remember to take time this advent season to enjoy each of our many blessings as we celebrate the birth of our Savior!

Triple Terrible Tuesday

Every other Tuesday is affectionally known as "Terrible Tuesday" in the Bachmann household.  It's sort of comical because it's actually a very helpful day when the cleaning ladies come, but it takes a LOT of prep to get ready . . . between changing all the sheets, towels, picking up, and recycling day everyone complains about having to get ready for the cleaning crew.  BUT today was extra terrible!  It should have been a super fun day with being the last day before Thanksgiving break and with Preston's Day of Awesomeness at JMR, but we had a lot of extra things going on.

Preston had surgery scheduled for today.  He was quite nervous but it ended up going really well.  Our only problem now is that he can't put any weight on the foot for TWO WEEKS!  I also had a long-awaited doctor appointment that I was a bit anxious about.

Savannah had a huge presentation and volunteered to make a cake for her math class.  Not just any cake, but a gender reveal double-layer bundt cake for her teacher!  Let's just say we forgot to plan for a few details like what kind of glaze/frosting we would use and how she would actually get the cake to school.  All of these things were realized on the eve of Terrible Tuesday too.

How cool is this amazing cake creation?!?  It all worked out (I even made my bonus goal of 10 Shipt shops) and we weren't late for anything despite the terrible traffic around town thanks to a major accident.  So although it was a quite stressful and busy day, we survived this triple terrible Tuesday with flying colors.  Now on to Thanksgiving!

Soccer in Savannah, GA

This weekend we ventured down to Savannah, GA for Preston's soccer tournament.  The first game was Saturday morning and the boys crushed the other team.  Between games, we headed to the waterfront to enjoy lunch and some shopping.

Unfortunately, the second game was lost 0-1 on a goal that should not have happened . . . but the boys played hard so it was fun to watch.  The last game was on Sunday morning and it was a disaster!  So many terrible calls from the refs and the team just sort of game up in the second half. :(  Even though they lost, we were thankful to be able to head back to Charlotte and not to have to spend the entire day/evening in Savannah before the long drive home.

It was their last event for the Fall season so now we get a break from soccer!!!!!  Hallelujah!!!  Of course, I'll still be working on the Spring season with budgeting and the tournaments, but I can do that from the comfort of home.  So thankful for Coach Jose and all he pours into these boys while challenging them to be better each session.

Cotillion Stepped Up

Today was the first Cotillion class where Preston had to wear a tie and jacket.  I loved watching these two together . . . Savannah patiently waiting while Preston attempted to tie his tie.  When it was sort of a fail, she was there to step in and help out. How cute are they?!?
