Clemson vs USC Game

Dave and Preston scored FREE tickets to the Clemson and USC game today.  They were super excited to meet up with the Sage family there for a fun afternoon.  Unfortunately (BIG, unfortunately) Clemson lost, but the boys still had a fun day!

Thanksgiving Adventures

Dave took Wednesday off from work and we tried our best to find something fun to do . . . we ended up going to Sports Connection to do bowling, but there was quite a bit of confusion with using our passes and then the entire system shut down.  It was chaos, but thankfully after 25 minutes of waiting, we were finally able to bowl!  To pass the time Savannah and Preston went to the arcade to cash in some of our points on gummy snacks.

Thursday morning Dave left bright and early to head to the lake to run a half marathon. He killed it with his time, but he said it was so unorganized and that he would never do that one again.  Nevertheless, it was a great premeal workout.  The kids and I participated in the neighborhood turkey trot.  Well, Savannah manned the doughnut table and Preston ran with me.  He was super excited for the hotchocolate and doughnuts afterwards. :)

Then we headed to Corey's house in Greenville for our delicious meal! He made everything and it was awesome.  It was such a treat to show up with my bag of rolls and enjoy all the yumminess.

Friday the kids and I ventured out for some quick shopping and this dodo couldn't resist picking up the hula hoop.  It was such a fun long weekend as we enjoyed time together and remembered how much we have to be grateful for.  Counting my blessings for sure!

The Pause Retreat

Every year the high school youth at Carmel take a retreat to intentionally "pause" before the holidays. This year's theme was Evergreen which focused on the unchanging nature and character of God and how He is forever faithful and good.  Savannah had a blast!   So thankful for our church and the way they intentionally disciple, encourage and love our children.

Cakeable Event

This is a bit overdue in posting, but too good not to share! Cakeable Charlotte is expanding into a new horizon with the opening of a coffee shop uptown!  To celebrate and reveal the new logo we attended a dinner event.  It was a super special night with all of the students, volunteers and staff. :)

More Soccer . . .

Today Preston's team lost in the final regular game 0-1 so they didn't make it to the playoffs, but man they played hard and only allowed two goals the entire tournament so that's pretty impressive. After the game in Greensboro, the boys headed to Cary to see Clemson play in the ACC soccer finals.  Unfortunately, they lost too, but at least the boys had fun (and didn't completely freeze) enjoying an entire day of soccer!

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's Off to Soccer We Go

Preston had a soccer tournament in Browns Summitt that started today. Unfortunately, the hurricane that came through at the end of the week really messed up all of the game schedules (they changed THREE times within a day), especially since they were playing on grass and had to let the fields dry out a bit this morning. Nevertheless, this kid was super excited to have some of our family come to see him play!  Pawpaw and Lisa came to the first game but I accidentally forgot to tell them they moved us to field 2 instead of the original 16 so they were a bit late.  oops!  Once they were finally on the right field Pawpaw almost got knocked out with a soccer ball LOL  Thankfully Dave diverted it and it only grazed his big head.  Uncle Denny and Julia also came to the first game but they were running behind and because we had shorter halves the game was over when they arrived.  But it was still great to see them!

Uncle Mark came for the second game and was able to see the team pull out yet another WIN!  The second team they played was super rough and was warned a few times, including a yellow card, but the boys didn't let that stop them!  So tomorrow they will play the other undefeated team for the bracket championship.  Savannah and I headed back to Charlotte (she had church events tonight and tomorrow) and will miss the next games, but we will cheer them on from home!

Savannah's College Tour #3 ~ Appalachian

Today was so much fun!  Dave took a day off of work and we took advantage of a teacher workday to head to Boone to do a college tour at ASU.  It was such a surreal feeling being back on campus while school was in session and almost feeling like I needed to grab my backpack and head to class . . but then I realized I'm SOOO old and those days are long gone. The campus has changed a great deal, but it still has that special feeling that I hope never goes away.

This was the first time Savannah was able to see inside an actual dorm room and said "wow, it's bigger than I thought!"  The tour moved ASU up on her list as she was able to feel the difference between a huge campus and a medium-sized one. I'm not sure she could handle the cold winters, but I know she would love going to school here so she is keeping it on her "safety school" list for now.  We are just praying and trusting she ends up right where she is supposed to be.

Savannah's College Tours #1-2 ~ Georgia

Yesterday Dave and Savannah drove to Georgia to stay with Grammy and Papa for the night so they could be up bright and early to start the college tours today.  First up was Georgia Tech.  Savannah is pretty sure that this is NOT the school for her so it's crossed off the list.  Woo hoo!  10 schools to go!

Next up was the University of Georgia for an early afternoon tour.  She was quite impressed with the school and likes the feel of the area.  The only drawback is that it is SO big.  UGA will remain high on the list as we venture on to Appalachian next week.

They arrived home super late after a very long day, but it's exciting to know that we are well on the way to finding the right school for Savannah!
