2018 Thanksgiving Festivities

Thanksgiving morning started bright and early this year!  We knew the neighborhood had a run scheduled for 9am, but didn't know how long the course was and wanted to be able to "run" with the kids so Dave and I went out earlier for a pre-run.  Then we circled back by the house and picked up the kids to walk to the start of our neighborhood Turkey Trot.  It was so much fun, even if some family members didn't finish the race.  They all enjoyed the donuts and juice at the end provided by the neighborhood.

After we all showered we were off to Mebane for our  Thanksgiving celebration.  There were 17 of us there to give thanks together . . and plenty of food for all.  Towards the end of the evening, the cousins started begging for a weekend together in Charlotte.  Before I knew it, we had a car full of kids headed back home with us!

Dillon had no interest in coming (and we couldn't have fit one more in the car) but the girls all piled in and we headed home for a fun-filled weekend.

There were LOTS of games of hide and seek, time spent playing outside, family card games, baking, and eating!  We even went for a walk to Harris Teeter to get frosting for the girls' cake that they baked.

Before we knew it, the time was here to head back to meet Denny and return the kids.  It was quite the weekend with enjoying extended time with our family. :)  We truly have SO much to be grateful for!!!

Bachmann Thanksgiving

We traveled to South Carolina after church today to celebrate Thanksgiving with Dave's family.  It was a beautiful day and the cousins spent most of the afternoon playing kickball outside.

After a delicious lunch Ashley opened some birthday gifts.  Then the kids were off again to play more kick ball!

Of course we had some yummy dessert before heading back to Charlotte.  What a fun way to kick off our holiday season.

Girl's Night Out

Well, I guess it takes having a friend who is the guest speaker at a ladies night in order for the four of us to get a girls night out!  Donna was speaking at the Billy Graham Library tonight and we found out just in time . . . although it was a sold out event, we totally wanted to go to support her so she pulled some strings and got us free front row seats. :)  We all rode together and had the best time laughing and just spending time catching up.  I hate how busy we all are during this crazy season of life, but oh how thankful I am that I know that these girls are always in my corner if I need anything.  We left encouraged and blessed.  What a privilege to do life with these real, down to earth women.

Trench Crew

This year JMR decided to do something a little different for Hoops for Heart.  They formed trench teams of 6 and each contributed $5.  The teams had to come up with a name and then make shirts to represent their team.  Savannah organized her group and just told me that the girls were coming at 1pm on Monday to design the shirts.  Well, okay then.  It's a weird transition for her to be making social arrangements instead of me planning things for her, but so far it's working okay . . . at least she knows how to check my calendar.  So on this Veteran's Day out of school, much time was spent painting shirts for the trench game on Friday.

Soccer Festival

Just a few of the Spurs U10 team

These boys played hard in three games this weekend.  Although they came up short in each of them, Preston was thrilled to score the only goal for their team in the second game.  They are definitely improving with their skills in working together.

A Frenzy of Fall Festivities

Our Saturday started with a long run (of course) and then we headed over to the PSE school carnival.  It was the perfect day for some outside fun, but sadly the carnival wasn't as exciting as last year.  There was a lot less to do, but we made the best of the little time we had to spend there before heading home to watch a few minutes of the Clemson game.

After we arrived home, we had a quick lunch and watched a bit of the game before heading to south Charlotte for Preston's first (of 3) weekend soccer game.  His team was blown out again, but still played a good game.  Savannah spent the afternoon volunteering uptown at the main library, so once we got back from soccer, ran a few errands, had a quick dinner, it was time for me to pick her up.  We went non stop all day and tomorrow is only going to be busier as Preston has two soccer games out of town, starting at 9:30am.
