Uncle Mark's Visit

Preston was SO excited that Uncle Mark drove all of the way to Charlotte to see him play soccer!  It was a beautiful day for some Saturday morning soccer fun . . and we certainly enjoyed having an additional person to cheer for our Peanut.

And He's Off . . . with NO Training Wheels

After a couple of weeks spent mastering his scooter, today was the day for Preston to try his bike without training wheels.  Daddy was still at work and Savannah was at a friend's house so Preston and I pulled out the bike and hit the street.  After only a couple of times up and down the street he was off!!  I am SO proud of him!!  He proudly stopped, turned around with this big smile on his face and said "Mama, are you so impressed of me?"  We couldn't wait to show sissy and daddy.  I love watching how confident he is becoming. . . his determination has paid off on this one.

Happy Happy Birthday Dave!!

Today we are celebrating Dave!  Happy Happy Birthday to the man that never loses his cool, always pitches in with evening kid duties, works super hard at work, and still manages to put up with me ~ all WITHOUT complaining!   He was surprised twice today with an ice-cream cake, once at work and once at home after our Red Robin dinner.  According to Savannah, "your tummy is going to bust with ice-cream".  We decided not to do birthday gifts this year, mainly because we didn't have time or energy to go get them (sad, I know) but Savannah came up with her own special gift for her daddy . . a labeling kit so that he can label all of his files and boxes.  She says that if you can't go get something for a gift then you just have to make do with what's at home . . so she had it all prepared and even wrapped it in a bag.  We were running out the door to soccer and I just grabbed a Victoria Secret bag for her to use.  She even made do with that by putting some orange duct tape over the words, because anything with orange works for daddy! :)

A Fun Filled Hot Saturday

For the past few weeks Savannah has been participating in a running club.  She was totally against doing any sort of running activity at first, but the coach (who is absolutely AMAZING) let us do the first class on a trial basis to see if Savannah would like it.  Well, she has loved every second of the club and often even goes the extra "mile" by running additional laps.  Coach Diane does such a great job motivating and encouraging the kids that they always want to come back the next week.  It worked out super for us since they are meeting at the school near our house.  We literally have walked through the woods behind our house every Saturday . . it doesn't get more convenient that that!

Run Savannah, Run!!

Waiting for the baton in the relay race
This morning I decide to leave a bit earlier and go for a longer run myself.  Dave and Preston walked Savannah over to the club meet and I started my run.  It was my longest run yet, 7.5 miles in 70 minutes.  Whew.  I'm going to be sore tomorrow for sure.  Then I picked up Savannah and we walked home.  After quick showers and breakfast we headed to Preston's first soccer game.

Cole, Preston, Ben, and Knox
The competition has definitely picked up this year with entering the 5 year old league, but the boys had fun none the less.   It was SO hot!!  After soccer we hit the library for Savannah and then the mall for a few mystery shops.  Then, we finally made it home for the Clemson game.  It looks like this will be our Saturday routine for a few weeks . . . boy am I ready for some cooler weather since we are spending so much time outside!

Preston's First Day of TK!!

Today Preston joyfully entered his last first day of preschool!  He marched right in and never took a second look back (maybe that was because he had to go potty, but anyway, he was super excited).  I have no doubt we made the right decision with TK . . and no doubt he is in amazing hands this year with Miss Melissa and Miss Mimi.

After school he couldn't wait to tell me about how he earned a gold star AND a green color, which means he gets two treasures out of the box at the end of the week.  So after a fun, restful holiday weekend with lots of quality family time, both kids are officially back in school!  Hallelujah!  It's going to be a great year. :)
