Cooper River Bridge Run 2021

We never thought this race would actually happen since it was postponed twice already, but Dave was thrilled to finally be able to head to Charleston for the race this weekend.  We stayed in a different hotel, which we loved, and enjoyed a beautiful view of the bridge from our window.  It was also nice to enjoy breakfast on the rooftop terrace before heading to the race to watch for Dave.

Unfortunately, we could even get close to see Dave run by very well, but through two fences we did catch a quick glimpse.  The kids and I weren't sure we would ever be able to find him after the race, but we didn't give up and eventually did connect!  We were thrilled that they were letting non-runners into the race event afterward too.  Although it was different, we still loved getting the free stuff and of course taking our annual photo booth and CPI pictures.

It was a super fast trip, but also super fun to be back in Charleston!

Preston's First Cotillion Class

Can you tell these boys are THRILLED to be going to their first Cotillion class?!?  They weren't really sure what to expect, but their older sisters prepared them as best they could.  Nevertheless, off they go to learn some manners and dance moves. :)

Travel Soccer Fans

Today Preston had a soccer game in Browns Summitt, which was quite the drive for us (especially just for one game), but it just happens the field was pretty close to my hometown of Elon!  We were so excited that Uncle Mark and Pawpaw could both join us for the afternoon game.  Although the boys didn't pull out a win, it was still a beautiful day for soccer and fun to spend time with family.

Buttercup's Adventure

Poor Buttercup developed some pretty extensive sores on her little body so today she got to experience a trip to the vet.  Only a few veterinarians in Charlotte see "exotic" animals, so we were thankful to find one nearby with quick availability.  The trip there was quite scary and she kept knawing at the cage trying to get out . . and when we finally saw the nurse, she chomped on her hand and drew blood.  Yikes!!  I felt so bad putting her through this, but she needed to be seen.  Unfortunately, the vet wasn't really sure what was causing her to have these big sores but seemed to think it was possibly hormone related.  He prescribed an antibiotic to see if that would help, but their life span is so short anyway I opted not to do more extensive tests.  We are praying this works and helps her heal and feel better.

Happy Bday Daddy-o!

Today was a bit crazy with so many kid activities, but we still managed to squeeze in a birthday song, cake, and gifts.  Eating out will have to wait for the weekend. :)

I can't express just how much Dave means to our family.  He is truly the calming voice of reason, the constant cheerleader, and always willing to pitch in with chores and taxi services. :)  I could not imagine doing life without him and am SO thankful for the way he loves, leads, and serves our family.

Labor Day Adventures

The kids were out of school for Labor Day, but we opted to enjoy a stay-at-home weekend.  For our adventure, we tried to go bowling, but unfortunately, they were closed for the holiday! :(  Instead, we ventured to a nearby mini-golf place and enjoyed a round of golf on Saturday.  Then on Monday, we grilled out and walked to the fields at JMR for Preston to practice kicking some field goals.  We had hoped to play kickball on the softball field, but it was locked shut.  Strikeout two.  It was still a fun weekend and a nice chance to sleep in!
