Going Private . . .

After much consideration I have decided to make this blog private.  There have been way too many funky comments in various languages and I'm tired of having to filter out the mess.  Plus, I'd like to share more details about the kids and don't want everyone in the world to read it!  So, if you are a faithful reader or just enjoy checking in from time to time, please leave a comment or send me an e-mail with your e-mail address.  I plan to make it official next weekend so you have a week to decide to join the fun! :)  The only thing that will change is that you'll have to log in to be able to read our family journey.

Have a great weekend!!!

Riverbanks Zoo Field Trip!!

 Class photo!

Carlie, Savannah, and Hannah in front of the giraffes

Her favorite part was feeding the giraffes, but I think she just threw the lettuce at the poor animal

Hannah & Savannah also liked the elephants

I'm not sure why I love pictures from the back, but this was too cute not to capture!

Yesterday was a fun adventure as I volunteered to chaperone the Riverbanks Zoo field trip.  We left the school right at 8am and returned promptly at 4pm.  It was a long day, but much more fun that I imagined!  The kids were so well behaved and loved taking such a big field trip.  Savannah's class has 19 kids and 12 chaperones came along, not including the teachers so it made things super easy only having to keep up with two children!  It also made me very thankful I wasn't the teacher from a different school with a line of 15 children to keep up with!

A Weekend at HOME!!

Preston begged to go down the biggest bouncy house so I sent Dave with him. It was much too "scary" for Savannah.
They loved the little jump house and enjoyed jumping together.

We've finally been able to enjoy a weekend at home!! Although things have been busy, I have to say that the feeling of just being home has been awesome. :) Dave ran his first half marathon yesterday and I filled my morning with chores and tutoring. Then it was time to head to the Spring Carnival at PSE. The kids had fun even though there was a lot less activity than last year. Hopefully this week will be a lot slower than the last few . . . although we do have a big yard project of spreading mulch and cleaning up to do.

Easter 2012

Easter Sunday started bright and early with Savannah jumping out of bed and wanting to come check out her basket . . but we made her wait for Preston to wake up! After they were both finally up we let them begin the search for their Easter baskets. As usual, the Easter bunny hid them very well! Preston found his right away and began surveying the contents, but poor Savannah had a hard time finding her basket. :(

After I spotted it and gave her a few clues she was able to find it hanging in the tree!

We let them enjoy one treat before breakfast and they both selected a snickers egg!
After church we headed to Greenville, SC where we met Dave's sister and parents. A few quick pictures before lunch turned out to be my favorites!
Easter cuties!
After lunch we headed over to Falls Park and enjoyed walking around the river and bridges
The two youngest . . right before Ashley pushed Preston off the rock. :(
All in all it was a great day! We definitely enjoyed being able to see some family and having a delicious lunch too. I just wish we lived closer to our families because it makes a looong day having to drive so far.
Happy Easter!!

Spring Break 2012

We started Spring Break with our fun Charleston trip and then spent the rest of the week in Charlotte. I tried to plan something fun each day to keep the kids busy, but by the end of the week the weather sort of ruined our outside plans. :( Plus, I ended up doing 21 mystery shops so I was sort of busy and had to work our fun plans into my route of shopping!

On Monday Preston had his weekly My Gym class where they let Savannah participate too. She enjoyed being able to play with her brother as the class was super small. We also spent some time in the yard playing that afternoon. Then on Tuesday we had a picnic at the park and made a trip to the library to pick out some new easy readers for Savannah. Wednesday Preston's speech class was cancelled so we headed to the mall and saw the Easter bunny (I forgot my camera) and wandered through the Disney store. When daddy got home we dyed Easter eggs, which the kids loved! On Thursday we did lots of cooking, including the EZ bake oven, and made purple Easter egg rice krispy treats for our family along with a meal that I had to deliver. Friday was the only day that we didn't have anything special to do since the yucky rain ruined our park play date. But, on Saturday we finished strong by heading to Carowinds!!

Their first trip to Carowinds!

I'm not sure if Preston was scared or confused . . . this was their first ride!

By this time Savannah was LOVING Carowinds, Preston was still a little unsure what we were doing!

First roller coaster ride or as Savannah called it "roaster coaster" (guess the rhyming at school has stuck)

On Sunday we headed to Greenville after church to have lunch with Dave's family. Post to follow . . .

Cooper River Bridge Run ~ Charleston, SC

They were super excited to watch for daddy!
Still waiting and watching for daddy to run by . . .
There he is!!!
After we FINALLY found Dave when he finished the race (it took 1.5 hours to find him due to poor cell phone service and a lack of planning) we headed back to the hotel so he could shower. We then met up with the Annan family at Waterfront Park. The kids loved the playground and pier area and we loved catching up with Lisa & Jason.

We had a picnic lunch there with the free Chick fil A sandwiches handed out at the race and then decided since we ate so late that we'd just have Ben & Jerry's for dinner! Yum-o!

But before we headed back to the hotel, we made a quick stop at the Waterfront to let the kids see the cannons and statues. Unfortunately, it started to rain so we knew it was time to head back for some rest time and TV!

This was the first year in awhile that Dave was able to do the Cooper River Bridge Run. The race is always scheduled for the beginning of April and with his work schedule, it's practically impossible to be away the first week of the month. The last time we went was when I was pregnant with Preston and we left Savannah with the Karhans for the first time overnight! I have to say that Charleston with 2 children is much different!

Although the ride down was a nightmare with the trip taking almost 2 hours longer than it should have taken (almost 5 hours total) . . . between potty breaks, gas stops, and AWFUL traffic on I26 . . . we were still excited to be away for the beginning of Spring break. I'm very thankful we made reservations almost a year ahead of time and were able to reserve a room right in downtown Charleston. It made things much easier with two little ones for sure. All in all, it was a fun weekend and a great way to kick off Spring Break!
