College Tours Continue ~ UNC & State

We took advantage of a teacher workday and woke up super early this morning to head to the Raleigh area for two scheduled college tours at UNC Chapel Hill and NC State.  It poured down rain on the drive there but thankfully the rain stopped for our first tour at State.  It was an interesting experience and we all left pretty unimpressed.

Next we headed to Chapel Hill.  After stopping for a quick lunch on Franklin Street, sadly, the rain really picked up.  We listened to the admissions presentation and heard a panel of students answer questions and thankfully were still able to get the tour in but I think the rain put a damper on things.  I loved the campus, but Savannah wasn't that impressed.  The fact that you have to apply to the business school as a freshman really turned her off. ;(

So the journey continues .  . .

No Electronics

It's amazing what can happen when a kid is banned from electronics for the weekend.  These two have had the best time working on projects and enjoying time outside together.  They ventured out to Michaels to get craft supplies and managed to transform Savannah's church notebook from an ugly green to sparkly purple. :)

Shipt 10000

Today was a huge milestone with Shipt!!  I finally hit my 10000th shop and am thrilled to see what reward trip is coming my way. It has been quite the journey over the past four years.  I started 12/24/2018 and will never forget how excited I was to get that first tip . . . well in all honesty the first order didn't tip, but the second one did, $5!  Since then things have certainly changed a LOT with the company, both in how you receive orders and how pay is calculated, but I've learned that you have to adapt to the changes that are good and bad.

Just reflecting back over these orders brings me such joy and laughter, but also some frustration and fright.  I've delivered literally in the middle of a tornado, shopped in stores with no power, called 911 when a lady had a stroke while I was delivering and waited for the paramedics to arrive.  I've shopped at Costco at 6am with an escort and delivered huge orders to countless apartments with no elevators.  I have broken eggs and busted milk in driveways and may also have delivered to the wrong house more than once.  OOPS!  I also got pulled once running a red light trying to make a delivery on time.  Tips have ranged from $0-$500 and I've made many friends that are now like family.

For the most part I stick to my 225+ preferred customers and love the chance to visit with the elderly, pray for those that have lost children/parents/spouses, and walk through life with my favorites, or preferred preferred preferred as I refer to them.  It's an honor that so many people trust me to pick out their produce and help keep their family fed.  So even though it's hard to stay super busy these days, I count my blessings that I have a super flexible job that allows me to be mom to my own kiddos and also help so many more mamas too.

Crazy Child

After the hard winter freeze on Christmas Eve, I decided to use a gift card from a customer to purchase a space heater to have on hand.  Took this crazy girl to Lowes, turned around for a second, and this is how I found her!  She may be super smart, but she's still a big kid at heart. :)
