8 Days and Counting

Well we've managed to survive the first eight days of having a baby and six days at home as a family of four!!! I have to say that although Preston is a great baby, it has been quite an adjustment for us all. Savannah is still doing pretty well with everything, but much of that is thanks to Daddy who has been home all week as well as Grammy and Papa who have been here to entertain her. This week will be the true challenge as Dave heads back to work tomorrow and Grammy heads back to Atlanta on Tuesday. Plus, Dave will be working super late all week as it's month end once again. Whew! I think I'll either be broken into having 2 kids or just be plain broken down by the time Friday rolls around. Here are a few pictures from our week:

Preston on his bili light. Thankfully after the doctor visit on Thursday we were able to discontinue the jaundice treatment!

Grammy and Papa arrived late Friday night. Here is Papa reading the kids a story.

Preston William

This is about as close as Savannah likes to get . . . just close enough to make sure her brother is okay!

First family shot as a family of 4!

Today has been pretty uneventful so far. We celebrated Father's Day here at the hospital where Dave was able to open his presents and cards. Savannah spent some time staring at her baby brother and was sure to tell everyone where the baby was as soon as they walked in. She doesn't want to hold him or get really close, but she watches closely from a distance.

We're sending lots of love to Papa Bachmann, Pawpaw Page, and of course Daddy!!! Happy Father's Day to you all . . . we love you bunches!

Welcome Baby Preston!!

Here is our final family shot as a family of 3!

I'm not sure who was more excited, me about finally meeting our baby boy or Savannah about going to Jack's house. Either way, it was an exciting morning for our family. I decided to try to capture one last picture of us all before leaving and this is the best I could do.

We arrived at the hospital around 7:15 am and had the pitocin started by 8:30 am. It was a long and uneventful day, but by 7:15 pm I had finally dilated to the point where I could push. Things were quickly set up and in less than 15 minutes our precious baby was born!

I promise more pictures will follow, but for now this one will have to do!

Our 5th Anniversary!!

I was going to try to save the 300th post on my blog for the arrival of Baby Bachmann, but I guess it'd be more appropriate to make it our anniversary post. Today is our official 5th wedding anniversary and it's been wonderful having Dave home with us. We journeyed out to Savannah's library class this morning, had Dairy Queen blizzards for lunch, and are planning to go to dinner tonight while Savannah stays with our sweet neighbor. Then tomorrow morning (hopefully bright and early) we're off to meet our newest family member!

The past five years have been nothing short of amazing. If you had asked me on our wedding day what I thought life would be like in five years, I would never have guessed we'd be dealing with most of what we're going through or that my life would be so crazy, but I would probably have said life would be great . . . and it is! Despite the obstacles we face daily, I'm truly grateful to have such a wonderful, supportive, and loving husband who comes home every day to put on yet another hat and be a super dad and husband. My mom was right when I talked to her earlier today and she said that God had picked a special man for me. I never imagined how much Dave would truly bless my life and didn't have a clue that any person was capable of being so patient, especially with a wife and daughter both very demanding.

I'm looking forward to see what God has in store for us over the next five years as a family of four. Hopefully then we'll be on a cruise to celebrate . . . because one thing is for sure, we won't be waiting on the arrival of another baby!

I love you, Dave!

Happy Birthday Savannah!!!

Savannah and I have had quite a fun day! We started the morning by baking cupcakes and topping them with pink frosting and sprinkles.

We then played blocks, dress up dolls, watched some TV, had lunch at Chick fil A with Miss Jennifer, and then went to visit Miss Heather. Once daddy got home we let her open her big "jumping thing" that she has wanted so badly. She has jumped non stop!!

After dinner we headed to Baskin Robbins for a special birthday treat. Yummy!!

It's hard to believe that our little girl is already 3 years old. Time has flown by since we first walked out of the hospital with her not having a clue what to do or how she would forever change our lives. You are an amazing little girl, Savannah, and we love you very, very much.

Getting Ready for the Little One . . .

Savannah and I spent lots of time this past week wrapping up a few things in preparation for our new little baby. Miss Kristin offered to keep Savannah one day and I got a ton of errands done that morning, but otherwise, I've had my little helper along for the journey. We've made progress, but boy is there still a lot on the list for this week!!

Dave is doing better and even ran in a 10k race this morning. The man who owned the dog that bit him has been super nice. He delivered the check for our medical expenses right away and even brought us a gift card for dinner. Not that it makes it okay, but it sure helps us not be quite as angry.

On Friday we went to see Dr. Baker for Savannah's 3 year check up. It still amazes me that she is going to be THREE on Monday. Anyway, he said she has thinned out some and is no longer considered overweight. Whew! She is still 97+ percentile for height (40.5 inches) and weight (43.2 pounds) but she is fine according to the doctor. I was shocked that they checked her blood pressure and eyes as well, but she didn't seem to mind. Actually, since she didn't need shots, the only thing she really minded was having to wear the "paper dress". When I asked the doctor about the food issues we are still having, he turned to Savannah and just told her that she needed to start trying new foods. I about fell out in the floor tonight when she didn't even complain about the chicken pot pie that I made. She picked her fork right up and started eating it! UNBELIEVABLE! Why didn't we go see Dr. Baker earlier?!?

Today we journeyed to Burlington to visit my mom. Since she didn't get to see Savannah at the birthday party and since it had been awhile since Savannah had visited with her, we decided that we better go now before the baby comes. Mom seems to be doing super and was SO excited to visit with Savannah. Of course while we were in Burlington we had to stop by the park for a couple of quick rides. I didn't know that they only took cash so unfortunately Savannah only rode 2 things . . . but since it was so stinkin hot I was sort of glad!

We arrived home completely exhausted but Dave still mowed the yard while I cooked dinner, washed dishes and did a load of laundry. No time to rest this week . . . the countdown is officially on, by next Saturday this time I hope to be posting pictures of our new little baby!!

How Much More Can We Handle?????

Well, just when we thought we had been through enough, Dave was out running this morning and got bit by a dog! When he got home we called our neighbor to come over and sit with Savannah while I drove him back to the house and got the owner's name and number. . . and give him a little piece of my mind too. Anyway, please pray for Dave as he is at the doctor now.

Savannah's 3rd Birthday Party

Although I still can't wrap my mind around the idea that my little girl is turning 3 in just a few days, we did celebrate her birthday with all of her special friends today at My Gym. It was super fun and I think each and every kid went home worn out. I know the timing was hard with the party being right after church, but how sweet it was for each of my friends to make an extra effort to have Savannah's friends there to celebrate with her. Although I didn't get many pictures (mostly video which I have no idea how to put on the blog), here are a few from this morning. If anyone has any cute pictures from her party, please e-mail them to me!!

Some Advice for a Frazzled Female

As I was reading through my Bible study yesterday, this totally hit me like a ton of bricks:

"When things don't go the way you want or the way you expect, continue to trust Me. Let Me be God. Let Me do things My way. I know what I'm doing. I will take care of you."

WOW! What more do I really need to hear? My life is crazy right now and I can barely even think about how things will be once this precious baby boy arrives. I'm so thankful that He is in control and will take care of me, even when I can't take care of myself.
