Halloween Ventures

My skeleton and giraffe!

Preston, Matrie, and Henry

Even the giraffe hopped out to get a handful of candy

This kid was pretty excited to score almost 700 pieces of candy weighing over 22 pounds!

This was Savannah's last Halloween at home :( I convinced her to wear her costume (that she already had for a German club event) and walk to the block party with me for some pizza.  Then when the coast was clear she hopped out to grab herself some candy.  We headed home to pass out candy and of course, watch a little OC before Preston got home with his loot.

Hanging with Savannah

Preston was invited to the beach with Henry's family this weekend.  They were supposed to go deep sea fishing, but unfortunately, the winds did not cooperate.  However, they seem to be having a swell time.

While the little guy has been gone we let Savannah choose our fun for the day.  Dave and I attended a funeral this morning (which would normally be a super sad event, but it was such a joy to celebrate Paul's homecoming . . and a blessing to be able to see so many friends we have missed too).  While we were away she "ran some errands" which were mainly clothes shopping and of course a trip to the library.  When we got home Savannah had the rest of our day all planned.  First stop, Dish it Out, for pottery where we each made an ornament for Christmas.  Then we did some more quick shopping and picked up the Barbie movie from Redbox.  She chose Hickory Tavern for dinner and then we watched the movie until it was time for the Clemson game.  It has been such a fun day and I must say we are soaking up this time we have with her, and it was even more special one on one today!

Pumpkin Time

Preston was not so thrilled that we had to make a quick stop by Aldi to pick up a few things we needed before soccer . . . but when he got to pick out this massive pumpkin to bring home he was all smiles. :)

Craziness in Helen, GA

We had planned to go to Virginia to bike the Creeper Trail today, but unfortunately, the weather was not looking great . . . so we opted to head south instead.  Dave and Savannah (our German fanatics) have been talking about going to Helen, GA for Oktoberfest for weeks so today we made the journey.  The weather was perfect and although we couldn't get a slot to zipline, we enjoyed walking around the city, people-watching, and lunch at a German restaurant.  Well, I wouldn't say we "enjoyed" the lunch part, but we had lunch at a German place with TERRIBLE service.

The boys were excited to ride the Alpine Coaster . . . and although it would have been fun, Savannah and I opted for mini golf instead.  The idea of standing in a line for an hour to ride a 5-minute ride wasn't so appealing to us. :)

And once I realized my free mini golf token from Hilton Head would work in Helen, mini golf was even more exciting!

It was such a great day trip and a joy to spend the day together outside of the rainy city of Charlotte!

Homecoming Weekend for All

This weekend was not only homecoming at Clemson but also homecoming for Savannah's high school.  On Friday night the boys headed to Clemson for a soccer game and were excited to check out the homecoming floats before the game.

They arrived home just before midnight so Savannah and I were already tucked away in bed. ;)  She did go to the football game but only stayed to see the halftime presentation before coming home.

We had a busy Saturday that started with soccer and ended with Savannah's super fun homecoming outing.  She met up with some friends to do pottery before going out to dinner.

She had absolutely no interest in going to the dance so her evening of fun ended after pottery and dinner.  I'm just thankful she was willing to go to the game and able to have fun with her friends tonight.
