2023-2024 School Year Here They Come!!

I cannot believe this girl left for the first day of her SENIOR year today!!  She was up bright and early ready to go . . .

Preston wasn't quite as thrilled to be starting 8th grade, but nonetheless, he was up and ready to go on time, with a smile!

It's almost unimaginable that this is Savannah's last first day of high school, but she is more than ready.  This year is certain to be full of excitement and adventures  . . . I'm trusting the One who has the plan all under control!

Her CPCC classes started a couple of weeks before public school, so after high school ended today she had to jump on some chemistry homework, including a lab with a Bunson burner.  WOW, this is going to be nonstop all year with high school, college apps, clubs, CPCC classes, work, and church.

Soccer with the Charlotte Eagles

After much drama, anxiety, and fear of the unknown Preston started in the first game of the season with his new team, Charlotte Eagles.  I knew from the first night of tryouts that it was going to be a good fit and now could not be happier that he is rostered with the league!

Preston is enjoying the new players and a new opportunity with the Eagles.  What I love most is that they boldly run a Christian organization and make it known that they aren't here just to teach soccer, but also how to be Christ-like young men. Every game starts and ends with a prayer huddle . . and that makes this mama so happy.  My only regret is that we didn't make the move from CSA sooner!

Off to An Early Start

Just so that it's documented, we are beginning the new year on Promotion Sunday EARLY to the 8:00 service!!  See the clock in the back??  We were literally 5 minutes early to the early service.  Go us!

It's Getting Real . . Senior Pictures

Just this simple black cape made Senior year so real for me.  It's exciting, but oh my word how did we end up here so quickly?!  This girl is so beautiful, inside and out, and is ready for the joy and excitement that is beginning NOW!

Senior Year here she comes!!!

Bored you Say?

When the kids are bored and there is such a long list of things to do with an upcoming kitchen remodel you get to venture to the quartz warehouses to help pick a countertop.  At least they had snacks at most of the ones we went to, which made these two a little happier! LOL

Another visit to the bin store also helps alleviate boredom.  These two found a digital camera and now they just have to figure out how it works!

Computer Crisis

Oh my word . . what a mess!!!  Apparently, CMS decided to change platforms for student log-ins and didn't bother to notify anyone of the change that would be taking place.  Savannah is already in full swing for her CPCC classes (that are a part of her CMS high school transcript) and as of this morning was completely locked out of everything.  Sheer panic hit my house as we reached out to any and everyone who might be able to help her get logged back into her Chromebook.  She had assignments due the next day AND school summer homework that wasn't accessible at all. Thankfully a few teacher friends from other schools reached out with the magic password combo and we drove to the closest school (someone said you have to be on a school campus for the first log-in) and got her back up and running.

Hours in Target

How does a professional shopper spend her birthday??  By browsing Target and trying to get the best deals, of course!  Savannah had a coupon that was expiring for 15% off your entire order at Target so we took full advantage and literally spent about two hours shopping together in Target.  It was quite the adventure and one I loved spending with my sidekick Savannah!

Hilton Head 2023

We were so excited to be able to make it back to Hilton Head this year!  Dave's parents treated us to several days and it was so much fun to get away and enjoy our favorite beach together.

We spent a lot of time just relaxing on the beach . . . and Preston spent a LOT of time mastering the art of skim boarding.

Grammy made it to the beach on Wednesday for some sun too!

Of course, we had to visit Frozen Moo for treats!

Preston joined me for a run one morning . . and really doubted I knew how far the route would take us, but we made it!

I was having Shipt withdrawal by Thursday so Savnanah and I ventured out to do a shipt shop!

Friday we got SOAKED trying to get back to the condo.  The storm was crazy, but thankfully we made it back with all our stuff without getting hit by lightening LOL

We had come in early from the beach because of the storm so we ventured to Sea Pines for some Salty Dog fun and of course dinner at Crazy Crab.

We left Saturday to come home . . and since we left early we hit Carowinds on the way back . .  you know, just to wrap up some vacation fun!

It was a fun week, but it's always nice to get home!  Now we are truly in back-to-school prep season!

Annual Poat's Lake Adventure

On Thursday we met at Carmel so these sweet girls could being their annual lake trip with Mrs. Poats.  They were SO excited and ready to hit the lake!

The weather was perfect on Friday, so even though there was a small hiccup with no power, they had a BLAST!

Sunday was the day families are invited to share in the fun . . so Preston made sure we were there bright and early for breakfast . . and we stayed through dinner!

The girls and their siblings having lunch

Preston did awesome wakeboarding and was able to stay up for a while on his fourth attempt.

It was such a fabulous day!  We were treated like royalty and played (and ate) all day long.  A little storm came through around lunch, but we made the most of that time with a game . . then it was back on the lake!  So, so thankful for Mrs. Poats and the way she continues to love these girls.  It's such a blessing to have another voice speaking Truth and love into them, especially as they are about to head into their final year of high school.  Even though it was her own birthday, she got a cake to celebrate the girls' senior year.  So another lake trip is in the books!
