Deer Drama Again

I was driving home from Shipt and got a call from my neighbor that a deer was stuck in our soccer net . . and slinging it all around.  We have had SO many issues with deer in our yard so I knew the drill, call 911.  I called and thankfully by the time I got home, I found this massive deer with gigantic antlers just standing in our yard, free from the net (but with quite a bit of orange netting hanging from its antlers).  I prayed hard that it would make the jump over the fence and not get stuck like the last two deer.  It did get over the fence but left behind quite the mess and destruction of Preston's net and weather machine.  UGH!

Fun for the Boys!

Preston enjoyed lots of fun activities with the guys this weekend!  On Saturday the soccer game was cancelled (other team had covid) but the plans for the team pool party held strong!  The boys all loved swimming and eating burgers at Dom's house Saturday afternoon.

Then, Sunday after church Preston attended Max's birthday party round two.  He went earlier last month closer to his birthday, but unfortunately, the laser tag party was stormed out.  They rescheduled for today and enjoyed extending the birthday fun!

All in all, he had a fantastic weekend and enjoyed lots of guy time!

Back to REAL School!!

It's official . . . both kids are returning to in-person full-time school today!!

I think, secretly, they are both super excited to be back in person.  Of course, they were a bit nervous. . . but none the less off they went.

Preston was feeling super independent as he is able to walk to school this year.  He left ready to meet up with his group at the top of the hill.  Praying for a healthy, fun-filled, year as they begin 6th and 10th grade!

My Bread Baker

Savannah has been determined to master sourdough bread making!  After getting a starter from a friend she truly gave it her best attempt, but it was an epic fail.  SO, she looked up a recipe and started her own starter from scratch.  This time it turned out amazing!!!  The smell of bread baking is so wonderful, but eating it was even more fabulous!!!  So proud of her determination and baking skills!

Getting Ready for SCHOOL!!!

Sunday Preston decided it was finally time to take down his fifth-grade graduate sign . . because he's headed to MIDDLE school!!

On Monday Savannah and I headed to Providence for her open house.  It was such a treat to actually see the inside of the school (I had never been in) and get to meet some of her favorite teachers from last year too.  After hearing from Dr. Harrell, we were allowed to walk her schedule and meet the teachers . . well at least the ones that were inviting and had their classroom open.  Of course, we stopped so I could meet and Savannah could say hello to her two favorites from last year (Herr Hablutzel and Mrs. Aycock).  10th Grade here she comes!!!

On Tuesday Preston was able to attend the open house at JMR, but he wasn't as willing to let me snap a picture.  LOL  However, being able to see the school and meet all of his teachers helped put his mind at ease about the new school.  It's exciting for me to know that he has many of Savannah's old teachers and incredible math and LA teachers too.   He is thrilled to have a walking group set up and is ready for school to start.  Sooooo, middle school here he comes!

It's My Birthday!!

Today was fabulous!!  I was able to do some fun Shipting and then we enjoyed dinner out at one of my new favorite restaurants, Duckworths!  I loved the homemade cards (Preston made his at dinner) and of course, Dave had a rhyming favorite that he created.  I had yummy Coldstone icecream cookies that I saved for dessert tomorrow.  Hey, I may be a year older but I'm just thankful to be happy and healthy!

Finally Back in Hilton Head

We stopped for lunch on the way to the beach . . but didn't think that literally the entire town would be stopped at Wendy's too.  UGH!  It took forever, but hey, we were just thankful to be headed to a much-needed vacation!!!  Unfortunatley, it was super slow traffic getting into Hilton Head, but we did finally make it!

We stopped at the Piggly Wiggly to get some milk and ice cream!  Of course, these dodos had to take a picture with the pig. LOL

We were all up early and had the tent set up by 9am on Sunday. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed many hours of sand and ocean waves.

We rented bikes and challenged ourselves to bike to the mini-golf after a day at the beach.  It was a LONG trip, but we made it!

On Monday after another gorgeous day on the beach, we ventured to South Beach for some adventures around the Salty Dog!

We enjoyed dinner out and shopping around the little area too.  Preston was so excited to finally get a skim board to try out on the beach.  I have to say he was determined and by the end of the day on Tuesday he had it down!

We had so much fun and definitely enjoyed unplugging and getting away together as a family before the craziness of school and soccer restarts.  We opted to head back to Charlotte late Tuesday night so we could have a day to recover at home before Dave went back to work.  BUT, stopped by Coligny plaza to get our favorite ice cream before heading back.

It was a blessing to spend this time together.  Hilton Head, thanks for another fun adventure!

Preston's Pool Time

We finally were able to get these three boys together to hang out.  I picked Preston up early from camp and headed to the pool right away.  Cole and Hamilton met us there and these boys had a super fun time today.  I have to say I enjoyed catching up with each of their moms as well. :)  Savannah joined in the mom section and according to her "mom gossip is almost as good as soccer gossip".  LOL
