Date Nights

Dave and I enjoyed date nights with the kids today!  Preston just wanted to go to Chick fil A for dinner and then watch some TV . . easy enough. :)  His big treat was enjoying an entire milkshake (after his sandwich, fries, and large powerade drink) for himself.

Savannah and Dave went to a Charlotte Hornets game uptown.  Dave won tickets through the Christian radio station so I guess the $33 dinner wasn't too much of a cost for a fun night out.  They really were excited about the concert afterwards, but with the time change looming, they headed home before the end of the show.

What a fun way to spend one on one time with our kiddos!  So thankful for a wonderful husband who is also one amazing daddy!!

Cotillion Winter Ball

Today was the final class for first year Cotillion students.  It ended with a winter ball at Providence Country Club.  Savannah and I were both super excited about finding just the right dress . . but the shoes,  now that's another story!  Anyway, she looked beautiful as she headed out to carpool for the ball.

Apparently she had a great time, enjoyed delicious food and was super excited to win $10 for her essay submission.

At the end they took group pictures of the kids according to their previous elementary schools.  I love the unity the kids from PSE have . .  Savannah came home annoyed that some kid joined in their picture that didn't go to PSE.  "PSE for life baby" :)  Overall, Cotillion was a wonderful experience which led us to sign up for year 2!

Preston's Neil Armstrong Project

For a few weeks Preston has had a project to do on a famous American.  He actually had to choose the person WHILE we were moving so that was a bit rushed.  Then, with the craziness at home, we kept pushing the project completion out until we could bump it no more!  I am not the creative one, so earlier this week I helped Preston with the written report, but absolutely could not do the poster.  We had to wait for daddy to do that.  So with the project due Monday morning, today was the last day to make the poster.  Thankfully Dave was able to carve out a few hours after church to help Preston complete his poster.  It turned out pretty cute!  Then I picked up the last part of helping Preston with his oral presentation and note cards.  Finally we bought mini moon pies to hand out in class after his presentation . . to help everyone remember Neil Armstrong was the first person to walk on the moon. Being the second child to do this famous American project and knowing that you don't get real grades in 2nd grade, I feel like we didn't really put forth 100% effort or energy, but hopefully he didn't mind; the moon pies had to count for something extra right?!

Quiz Bowl Regionals

So today was the long awaited regional Quiz Bowl competition.  Unfortunately it was in the middle of NOWHERE and started super early on Saturday morning.  However, Dave and I treated it like any other work day and got up at 5 am, did an abbreviated run and were all ready to hit the road by 7:15am.  We stopped by the school to pick up Savannah's teacher and made it safely to Mooresboro by 8:30.  While Mrs. Cox was checking in Savannah went to work setting up the buzzer system for one of the rooms.  She had lots of help from little hands. :)

Each team was required to bring volunteers so Dave was game for being a reader.  Preston and I cheered the B team on . . . so it was a family affair. :)  Savannah was on the B team and they won 4 out of 6 matches, losing twice to the same team.  The A team ended up 4th out of 6 teams, but may qualify for states by default. :)

After a long and eventful day, we raced home to run some errands.  Savannah and I had to do a mystery shop for shoes and finally found her a dress for Cotillion.  Then we picked up the boys and headed to a mystery shop for dinner.  Of course we couldn't miss out on $1 Brusters PJ day so after dinner we put on our pajama pants and headed to get ice-cream.  Whew!  What a day.  It was fun, but exhausting.  Next up, Preston's big project that is due . . um . . MONDAY!
