Just Another Day

Foll0wing my friend Donna's lead I'm going to try to walk you through a typical day in my life with pictures. This is an extremely long post! Now before I even start let me say that normally I would have laundry and dishes to do, but after doing so much this weekend it's all caught up!! Dave left for work way before my day started so hopefully I'll capture him on camera when he gets home from a long day at work.

Starting my morning with some mommy time . . . getting caught up with my Bible study.

Working on family finances . . . checking credit card accounts, ebay sales, calling about dental claim, etc

She's up, but not quite ready to get out of her crib yet . . .

So I took a minute to make the bed

Now she's up, dressed, has her B, and is ready for her . . .

"HAIR BO" She now immediately goes to get one after getting dressed!

Savannah has breakfast in a hurry so we can run before the rain comes . . .

After our workout which was cut short with the rain, only 19.35 minutes of running today :(

Time for Sesame Street so I can grab a quick shower

Mommy I don't know anything about these trucks . . . what do you think Jack would like? Our second errand was to get a birthday gift at Toys R Us. Savannah pitched another fit and refused to get out of the wagon there!

I was so mad at the Rite Aid lady that I left before getting a picture inside! Add that to my list of calls to make this afternoon. After calling customer service I scored a $10 gift card to Rite Aid!

Then a trip to SC to fill the car with gas. Can you believe these are SC prices??

We had some fun playing at Charlotte at Play trying to drag out the morning so naptime would coordinate with tutoring time this afternoon.

We finally made it home. Savannah is having lunch and I'm sorting mail.

She's finally asleep. Just in time for me to grab some lunch and catch up on my e-mail before tutoring starts!

First hour of tutoring with Kaitlyn. She loves Algebra II!!

Second hour of tutoring: Caroline . . . loving some algebra problems, especially the word ones!

This is very typical at our house . . . Savannah wanting more Tyson nuggets for dinner, "MORE"

Finally dinner . . . tonight is leftover night so no preparation is needed!

AAHH . . .almost bedtime.

Well, after a very full day of pictures, I'm done with the camera. This should be enough pictures to last you faithful fans for at least a month! We've settled into our PJs and are watching our favorite Tuesday night TV, American Idol with The Biggest Loser being DVRed. We plan to hit the bed right after that.

Poison Control

I was all set to update my blog today with details on my wonderful visit with my friend Jennifer this afternoon, our fun morning with Jack, Savannah's new tantrums, our weekend filled with fun, and Savannah's new word "A Man" until tonight . . . when I had to call poison control for the third time! Right now all I can think about is how mad I am that she used my body spray IN HER MOUTH while I was drying her hair!!!! AAHH!! Anyway, after talking to the sweet lady on the phone, who assured me that Savannah was going to be fine, I really started thinking about how thankful I am for such services. Seriously, what did our parents to when we were kids? I'm pretty sure they couldn't pick up the phone and call someone trained in poison control to assure them that their child was going to be okay. So tonight as I put my child with very fresh breath to bed I am very thankful for poison control and immediate answers!

Just incase you're wondering, the other two times I called were when my nephew took my birth control pill and when Savannah tasted the tide pen in her diaper bag. Wonder how many times you can call before they send someone to check out your home?!

Chick fil A

Today was the first day ever that Savannah made it through an entire meal at Chick fil A (or any restaurant for that matter) without getting fussy or refusing to eat!! I'm so proud of her . . . now I truly feel like a stay at home mom . . . my child loves Chick fil A!! She sat there in her little booster seat and quietly ate her entire box of 8 piece nuggets, some of mommy's french fries, and was still saying "mor" so she also polished off a Nutra Grain bar. Then, like a normal child, she asked for her "juice". This is HUGE for us. We are finally getting to the stage where she knows what she wants and can ask for it. Yes!!

As we were cleaning up, she kept saying that she wanted "mor" and was pointing to my diet coke. Well, she has never had a carbonated beverage so I just assumed she wanted the straw. That worked for awhile, but she still kepting saying that she wanted "mor". When I explained that it was mommy's drink and she had to drink her own juice, she became very sad and said "share". We learned this new word yesterday when her friend Anna Kate was over . . . share . . . oh, I love you Savannah. I could have melted right there. She never cried, but was sad that mommy wouldn't share with her.

Then we were off to Harris Teeter for some HUGE savings. They have some awesome sells this week and I ended up saving $149.51 with only spending $75.85!! The day only gets better as there is a consignment sale this afternoon!!!

Dear Lord, I thank you for such a fun day with Savannah and for all of the small things that have been an encouragement to me today. My cup runneth over . . .

A REAL Date!!

Dave and I had SO much fun last night! We ended up eating dinner out and then headed to the new sports complex here in Charlotte, Sports Connection, for some bowling. We haven't bowled since before we were even dating so it was fun to enjoy a few games with just the two of us. My average score was 66 so Dave easily more than doubled my average . . . but I do have to say that he used to be in several leagues and owns his own shoes and ball!!! We stayed out late and really enjoyed just catching up with each other. What a perfect Valentine's night out.

It is such a blessing to have wonderful friends willing to babysit on a Friday night. I think Dave was more worried than I was because he kept checking the phone around Savannah's bed time to see if one of our four sitters had called. I was completely worry free for the first time in a VERY long time. I knew she was in very capable hands here with Jenny and Heather. We arrived home to find out that Savannah played hard and really enjoyed cooking in her kitchen with Dave and Todd. Way to keep her busy guys! Thanks again to the Karhans and Neals for being willing to watch our little Savannah.

Happy Valentine's Day

Dave and I are officially celebrating Valentine's Day tonight, but we have still had fun with Savannah the past two days. Yesterday Dave surprised me with my favorite red tulips and then we had our annual Cheesecake Factory cheesecake to celebrate the holiday. Once Savannah was born we decided that waiting over an hour in line and then another couple of hours through dinner was just too much for a baby so we shortened our tradition of eating at the Cheesecake Factory to just take out cheesecake. Boy was it yummy! We opened cards and let Savannah rip into her new safari puzzle last night as well.

Today, Elizabeth and I hosted the Valentine's party for Savannah and Jack's WEE school class. We had cupcakes with sprinkles, some stickers, and big red balloons. The kids had a blast. Savannah managed to eat the paper on her cupcake . . . as you can see she crammed the entire thing in her mouth all at once.

We are SO excited to be going on a real date tonight. There are four adults coming to watch and entertain Savannah so they should have it covered. Who knows where we end up, but thanks in advance to Heather, Dave, Jenny, and Todd for giving up a Friday night for us. We owe you one!

Lunch on a Toothpick

I have struggled for some time with getting Savannah to try new foods. Since September she's eaten the same three or four things EVERY DAY!! Every night I offer her what we're eating for dinner and every time she refuses with an emphatic "NO". I've also made it a habit to hit the sample domes on every trip to Harris Teeter just to see if she's interested in any new foods. On several occassions she's eaten some deli meat, but only in the store. Once I buy it and get home she again refuses to eat it. Today, however, I outsmarted the little bugger. While shopping for groceries, I noticed that there was some ham on sale again, but no samples available. I nicely asked the deli associate if we could try some and he kindly sliced us a couple of pieces. (I know he's thinking we just want a free lunch as everyone knows how ham tastes!) I offered it to Savannah and she refused. As I'm standing there wondering what in the world made this ham different than other kinds that she's eaten from the sample domes before, I realized it was all in the presentation . . . she likes to eat from a toothpick. I again kindly asked the deli associate for a favor, this time a toothpick. I'm sure now he really thinks I'm nuts!! I put the ham on the end of one, and she eats it right away. Let's just say we ate lunch on a toothpick today. I'll do anything to get her to eat something other than peanut butter sandwiches and chicken nuggets! :)

A Weekend of Celebrations

This has been such a full weekend for us. On Saturday I helped with a baby shower for our precious friend, Jenny Neal. It was much fun watching her open so many cute baby items and getting excited over onesies! I also enjoyed spending time catching up with old friends who have moved away and others who I just haven't seen in a long time. Oh how excited I'm already getting about welcoming baby Jake. He is so lucky to have parents like Jenny and Todd!!

Then, yesterday after church we headed to Greenville to celebrate Dave's sister's birthday. We ate at a great restaurant with their family and Dave's parents who had driven up from Atlanta. After an afternoon of playing (see picture of Savannah and Alyssa on the swingset) and some yummy ice cream cake, we headed back to Charlotte. I have to say it was the easiest trip we've ever taken with Savannah thanks to our new DVD player we got for Christmas. Thanks Dad and Deborah!! She loved watching Veggie Tales the entire trip and we didn't hear a peep out of her as long as the "T" was on. I had never seen Veggie Tales before, but what a great show! It now only teaches Bible stories, but is very captivating for children to watch . . . at least I felt a little less guilty for letting her watch this one!
