Tonight was a big first, I would actually call it a miracle, in the Bachmann household. Savannah started her normal dinnertime routine of whinning because she couldn't use play doh, saying "I not like" whatever I had cooked, asking for "cheese strings", and refusing to even try what was on the table. This has been our biggest issue with her ever since we stopped giving her baby food. The child has NEVER even tried a vegetable from the table, other than corn (which she would only eat if it was on the cob, not cut off). Anyway, tonight was just the same as every other night, I made our dinner plates and then put a small portion on her plate. As usual, she started saying that she didn't like ravioli, but strangely enough, tonight she decided to not only eat every vegetable on her plate (peas, corn, carrots, and green beans) but even kept asking for more!! The catch was that we had to sort of mixed vegetables and help her eat each and every spoonful, but who's complaining? The child actually ate vegetables!!! It must have been the quality time she had with daddy this morning . . .

Happy Easter!
Here are a couple of pictures from our morning. I'll spare sharing the one of us as a family since I am beyond huge! In the second picture Savannah was so excited to find her Easter basket. Dave wants to start a tradition where we hide the basket and she has to hunt for it. I have to say that I like my friend Heather's string idea better, but we settled for hiding it this year. As you can tell, I have a lot to learn about making baskets pretty. As a child mine was always stuffed to the brim, filled with grass, and of course tons of candy. Sorry Savannah, I'm working on it!
This year Easter has been a lot different than ones in the past. We decided to stay home and get some much needed rest. We enjoyed Easter Sunday in our own church and weren't rushing around to get to any place afterwards. This afternoon we've worked a little on the nursery, I cut Dave's hair, and now he's off on a run. Once the little one wakes up we are going to have our own Easter egg hunt in the backyard since yesterday was total chaos. Ahhh! There's no place like home.
Happy Easter everyone!

Easter Egg Hunt Chaos
Today we decided to take Savannah to a local Easter egg hunt. She had been talking about finding eggs for some time so we thought it would be a fun thing to do together as a family. Little did I know that it would be mass chaos!! We arrived and ended up walking over 1.5 miles just to get to the Easter egg hunt where the line was already forming an hour ahead of time. Even though it was all muddy and she barely got anything in her basket, she still had a great time. She went to bed anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Easter bunny tonight!
Here she is patiently waiting to start the egg hunt.

Prayers for My Mom
As most of you know, we just found out on Sunday that my mom was diagnosed with stomach cancer late last week. She saw the oncologist yesterday and really still has limited information. All we know is the the tumor is in the middle 1/3 of her stomach and that 3 months of chemotherapy is a must. She will meet with a surgical oncologist hopefully next week to determine if surgery is an option before or after chemo. Please pray for her during this time. Pray for a sense of peace, that the scan on Tuesday will reveal that the cancer has not spread anywhere else, and that the doctors will make the best decisions about her treatment and care.

Savannah's New Dress
Savannah was so excited to get a package in the mail today! Grammy and Papa sent her an Easter basket along with this adorable pillowcase dress that Grammy made! It is Savannah's first pillowcase dress and we both love it. Her cousin Alyssa has an identical one . . . won't they be cute together?! It took me awhile to convince her that it wasn't a good idea to wear it today with the freezing cold weather we're having, but after awhile she agreed and put her long sleeve outfit back on.
Speaking of, what is up with this weather? Go away winter!!! Where are you Spring??

Home Sweet Home
Well, Dave and I arrived home around 12:30 yesterday and Savannah acted like she could have cared less! Honestly, it hurt a little to think that she didn't miss us that much, but oh how thankful I am that she had a swell time while we were gone. We came home and found a neat and tidy house with not only the dishwasher running, but the laundry in the dryer too!! My friend Heather and her husband Dave were awesome with her! So now here's the dilemma . . . what do we do for them? I wanted to send a check, but my Dave said that wasn't a good idea. Any suggestions??
I do have to say that Savannah is in a bit of a pickle trying to readjust to us being back. Last night was R.O.U.G.H. Dave ended up putting her in the bed with me when he got up around 5 this morning, which we have never had to do before. Hopefully tonight will go more smoothly! It's still always good to be home sweet home.

Charleston Vacation
Dave and I have had a blast today! Dave did awesome in the race this morning, finishing more than 5 minutes under last years time. I enjoyed my morning in the hotel and a nice, fattening, hot breakfast before heading out to watch the runners. We have walked a ton, eaten well and even managed to take a long nap this afternoon. I can't even remember the last time I took a 2+ hour nap and didn't wake up in a panic or worried about what didn't get accomplished during that time. Although it is A LOT different without Savannah here, we have really enjoyed our time being on our own schedule . . . I do miss her though!
