A Fast Blizzard

Marshmallow, the Snowman
So I'm sitting in the office yesterday afternoon and I said to Dave "I thought it was supposed to snow today."  We both looked out and there wasn't anything close to a snowflake falling, actually it wasn't even raining.  Earlier in the morning there had been a few flurries, but we just figured that it missed us yet again . . . then, less than 10 minutes later we look out and it is literally a blizzard of falling snow.  Within a matter of minutes everything was covered, including the streets!  Normally this would have been awesome, but last night we actually had scheduled a sitter to come so that we could go to a very special friend's 40th birthday party near uptown.  We debated back and forth about whether we should brave the weather to go to the party and ended up deciding that we would leave our super sad kids at home (because there wasn't time to play outside and clean up before we had to leave) and go to the party.  I prayed that there would still be snow after church today so that we would be able to squeeze it all in and it ended up working out for us!

Other than the accident we got into on the way to the party (only minor damage to the car and the accident wasn't my fault) it ended up being a great night and a fun Sunday morning too.  The early service at church was cancelled so we were able to sleep in two mornings in a row and came home to head right outside to play in the snow.  I lasted only a little bit before I was frozen and decided to come in and start our crock pot chili for dinner and get lunch ready.  However, Dave the super dad, played out for over an hour with these two little kiddos.  They made a cute snowman, threw a few snowballs, and tried to sled down the hill in the front a few times before coming in for lunch.  What a great weekend . . . well, minus the accident!
