Spring Break 2022 . . . Vegas Baby!!

 

Let the adventure begin . . the kids have no idea what they are in store for, but we are all excited to get out of town for a break!!

Oh my, the sights started early!

The first day was amazing!  The weather was perfect and we hit tons of highlights

We found the secret pizza parlor in the resort and had dinner there!

So excited for America's Got Talent Show!!

Preston's favorite part was meeting Dustin Tavella, the winner of America's Got Talent!  He was there celebrating his birthday with his family sitting right in front of us and was more than willing to take a picture with Preston. :)

We took a bus to Old Vegas one day!  You can tell from the pictures it was COLD!!  We were all freezing and so thankful for coats . . also there was a massive sand storm with alerts going off on our phones.  We couldn't even see the mountains on day 2.

The in-and-out joint was a hit!

We did a lot of walking and ended day three with a cirque show that was quite disappointing for us all! 

 

We missed the bus so we walked back to the hotel.

Our flight home was delayed several times so Preston played a slot machine in the airport and lost his change. :)

All in all, it was a super fun adventure.  I wish the weather had been warmer and the kids could have enjoyed the pools at the hotel, but at least there was daily guest entertainment from the people we met in the elevator as we rode to the 38th floor!  Definitely, a fun way to spend a few days out of town!

Her Favorite Time of the Year, Green Jeans!

Savannah literally waits all year for the Green Jeans consignment sale.  This year we had to drive quite a long way to Mooresville since they didn't have the event in Matthews, but it was a fun night out!  Still didn't find the perfect birthday party dress . . . but we're on the hunt!

Another Teacher Workday!

 

Today the kids had yet another day off from school so we enjoyed minature golf and then yummy treats at CFA.  We tried to get soft serve at McDonalds, but their machines were broken :(  Much to our delight, Mr. Justin was working at CFA and treated the kids to free ice cream!  It was a beautiful day and we soaked up some fun in the sun!  

Just the Girls

Savannah and I enjoyed a nice quiet weekend together while the boys were away.  Friday kicked off the weekend with Savannah going to Cakeable and then we enjoyed dinner out at Chick fil A.  We would have gone out for dessert too, but she brought home this amazing, still warm, strawberry buckle cake so we stopped for vanilla ice cream to serve with that instead. 

We went out for ice cream at Marble Slab on Saturday to celebrate her AMAZING SAT scores (first picture above is of her opening the score report)!!!  Although she missed a question in the math section and didn't get a perfect score (her first goal), the overall score was well above her personal goal so that is something to celebrate!!  Actually, it's so good there is a debate if she even needs to take it again!

We enjoyed time watching some girl movies, shopping, of course a little Shipting, and lots of yummy treats.  It's so fun to just be with my girl!!

 

Boys Blessing Retreat

 

Moms are given very few details . . . but I know these two boys had a wonderful time this weekend together in the mountains on the preteen blessing retreat with church.  I  know that it snowed, that they were exhausted from hiking and carrying stones, that the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, and that it was a very special weekend spent together.  Here are a few pictures to enjoy!

Early Morning Workout

 

I was so excited that this little guy gave up his morning "couch time" and electronics for a short time to go for an early morning workout with me. He biked while I got my miles in on foot!  It was a nice change to have a partner with me. :)

We found out this week that Brusters was doing $1 wafflecones today if you wear your jammies . . so all week the kids couldn't wait to get treats after dinner.  After Dave and Savannah took charge and cooked up burgers on the grill we headed to Matthews and enjoyed the long overdue Brusters treats!
