Moving, Cleaning, and Refecting

Well, we survived the craziness of the moving truck and spent the first night in our beds on Oak Pond Circle!  When Savannah went to the bus this morning (or rather went to wait for carpool) she found this package for her, but could only guess that it was front Aunt Cherry!  A new hair dryer for her own bathroom. :)

So now the moving/packing/cleaning continues.  So thankful Dave has exactly 1/2 day of work home to help . . we have some serious work to do at the old house.

Some of our favorite finds were a paci from Preston and my PeeWee pillow that got me through so many tough times.  Yep, time to trash both of those!

We sort of forgot about cleaning out the bonus room closet.  Dave started digging and found a large assortment of random pillows.  He threw them all down and said "how many pillows do we need?!"  I finished the craziness on my own Thursday morning, literally minutes before the walk through.

After a completely exhausting day of moving/packing/cleaning we decided Chick fil A was the best choice for dinner.  My sweet friend Laura brought us dinner for the first night in our house, but we were on our own now. So we enjoyed dinner out and then headed to Whitmore Pond to do a walk down memory lane and say goodbye to our sweet home.

First up was Preston's room.  Such fun memories and lessons learned in this room.  He's standing in the very corner where I stepped into a paint bucket, spilling paint all over the carpet.  It was a long, late night where I eventually came to realize that it's JUST carpet!  Not worth getting all worked up over.  I also spent a lot of time rocking this sweet boy in this very corner.

Here he is by his doorknob, still flipped around.  Yep, once upon a time this kid would NOT stay in his room at night.  So Dave and I flipped the handle to lock him in. :)

Then there was Savannah's room.  My first baby was rocked in this very spot where she is standing.  Many sleepless nights were spent here praying over what I should do to care for her.  I'll never forget calling our pediatrician at home from the very rocker in this spot after Savannah choked and turned blue.  There once was a beautiful tree painted on a pink wall right behind her.  I held onto it as long as I could, but the preteen years led us to this gray wall with navy and teal decor.

Dave and I have loved our master suite. Spent lots of time here, our first night back from our honeymoon until now, almost 14 years later. It was just the right shape and size.

So here we are, saying goodbye to the only home we have known as a family together.  We've lived through a lot of good, bad, scary, and glorious times too.  We even lived through a remodel!  God has been good and faithful.  We trust as we venture out to our next home . . . trust that we'll make just as many good memories and have even more fun!  Goodbye Whitmore Pond, you'll always have a special place in our heart!
