Last Winter Track Meet

Winter track is a super short season . . and being injured for the first part of the season really shortens it even more!  Nevertheless, Preston was excited to be able to compete at the meet today. It was at the local high school that is brand new so their facilities are quite nice.  He ran well, but there was a small collision with the relay team in the lane next to him (they were DQed for being in his lane) but they still did great.  I was reminded how much I dislike meets that are SOOO long, but thankfully we were able to leave before 5pm because his events were earlier.  Now he just has to focus on healing and being ready for spring outdoor track and soccer which is approaching game time fast.

Sadie's on Saturday

But first, Track!  Today Preston had his first winter *indoor* track meet with the school.  It was super far away (his school is so old they don't have a track fit for meets so we will travel for every meet, winter and spring). He didn't have a record time, but it was fun watching him compete and to experience the real live timing.

After track, there was a short break before he went to the Sadie's dance with Kadence.  This was such an odd experience because he had only met her in person once and that was AFTER she asked him to go to the dance at her school. He was a bit concerned because he was the only guy in the group and didn't know any of the girls except one from church.  Plus it wasn't at his own school.  But, he made the best of it and ended up having a great time.

Actually, he had so much fun he texted and asked if he could go to the after party . . . so we said yes, which made for a really late night.  I think overall it was a fun experience but next time he'll probably make sure there is at least one other guy in the group. :)

Friday *Fun*

One of Preston's favorite things to do is going to Where Ya Bin in Matthews on Friday mornings.  Honestly, it's a sacrifice for me because a)the place is nasty, b)Preston takes FOREVER to go through his cart of crap, and c) you have to be there super early to take part in the stampede of getting in line to hope to be first in the store. But, he loves it so I try to get up super early to finish my workout and have time to get there before 8am any day he happens to have Friday off. Today was sort of a bust.  I mean who returns a used side car mirror?!?  I did find one thing to list on ebay and a canister of Isagenix but nothing super exciting.

And to finish off a "fun" day we had ice cream after dinner from Marble Slab to celebrate the end of exam week!

Braces are OFF!!

Honestly, I thought Preston would be more excited than he was . . . but I'm thrilled that the braces are finally off!!!  He couldn't wait to eat an apple.  It was the one thing that he wasn't allowed to eat and actually obeyed. Somehow we managed to go through the entire treatment and never lose a bracket or have to go in for extra treatment.

And if getting braces off wasn't exciting enough, look at this sunset!  WOW!  The sky was just magnificent after I dropped Preston off for soccer so I had to take a couple of pictures.

Monster Golf Madness

Having Savannah home for a long weekend was such a treat!  We didn't do much but finally decided to venture out on Saturday to a new (to us) place called Monster Golf.  It was indoor glow mini golf and so much fun.  Savannah found a great deal online that included mini golf for four and a $20 arcade card for like $25.  When we first went there was an 1.5-hour wait to play so we decided to go to dinner nearby at Chili's and then come back for golf.  It was perfect timing and we all had a blast. :)

We ended up having a ton of arcade points so we hit the photo booth and decided to save the rest of our points for next time.

Snow BUST!

For weeks, the weathermen have warned of the incoming winter weather this week.  School was even canceled for Friday  . . . and we only ended up with a few flakes.  SO SAD!  At least Savannah had some fun in the snow in Chapel Hill last night!  We were hoping the forecast would be true and it would snow 1-2" overnight in Charlotte, but we woke up to nothing but ice.  I had one sad kiddo on my hands.  Thankfully Preston and Dave were able to go to Clemson for a basketball game today (a gift from his parents) and the Tigers pulled out a win so that made their day!

This and That in the New Year

The days after Christmas can tend to be gloomy as we are sad the holidays are past and don't really have a set schedule, but thankfully these kids are making the most of their time away from school.  Savannah met up with some church friends for a couple of gym visits followed by lunch on day.

Preston has been enjoying hanging out with neighborhood friends and going to the fields.  They both were thrilled when Local Scoop had 50% off everything (to reduce inventory for a renovation) and they were able to go and celebrate Savannah finally finishing her scholarship application.

We made a trip to the outlets to look for some new pants for Preston and just happened to throw in a mystery shop for pizza lunch while we were there.  And of course, there was some Shipt madness this week as well.  SO thankful for my mini-me sidekick who joined me on a few orders . . and even found this long-awaited Target pillow at a store we were in.

We've had a fun few days, but I think we are all ready for a more normal routine to start. . . but I am going to miss my girl when she goes back to school! :(
