Saturday Soccer Fun
We were so excited that the cousins came for a visit this weekend. Alyssa had a volleyball tournament in Charlotte again, so Ashley stayed with us for the day on Saturday. Of course, we had to go to Preston's soccer game (it was SUPER windy and cold) first. Savannah and Ashley discovered that the turf was much warmer than sitting in the chairs. :)
Preston even had his first turn as keeper. He did great, but it definitely added another element of stress for his mama . . . and as the other parents agreed, it isn't the best use of his skill set since he's super fast! It was a fun day that ended with a win!

Leprechaun Traps Revisited
Somehow Preston is still obsessed with trying to trap a leprechaun . . . so Saturday night these beauties were constructed in an attempt to finally catch the little guy. Preston was quite disappointed to wake up Sunday and find that apparently, leprechauns only like marshmallows from lucky charms cereal and lots of gold. It was just too smart for the trap door and only took the cereal and gold outside of the trap. There's always next year to try to outsmart the leprechaun. :)

Run Preston Run!
Coach Diane shared this picture with me today after running club. Preston absolutely loves running with her on Mondays after school. Thankfully the weather has finally cleared and we even saw some sun today so maybe that means we will actually be able to have a full week of soccer.
It's been a crazy few weeks with me working a lot more at school and staying busy with Shipt shops too. I guess it's nice to have a hobby that makes money instead of spending it, but it can get quite crazy at times.

Final Cotillion Ball
Today was Savannah's final year 2 Cotillion ball. It was a 5 course dinner at Providence Country Club . . and of course there was dancing and a few games too. Mrs. Sugg had car pool and chaperone duty so she took plenty of pictures for us!
Savannah and Porter
Savannah and Alex
Another (not so fun) dance partner
The entire group!
Savannah has officially completed the Cotillion courses so one would hope her etiquette is improved and that she has learned some basic dance skills. I guess time will tell. :) She plans to continue attending classes, but now as a paid assistant!

Soccer & Quiz Bowl
Today was one of those days where Dave and I had to divide and conquer! We were sort of hoping soccer would be rained out (although they have missed 3 games in a row due to rain) because Savannah had an out of town quiz bowl event today too. As it turned out, we got an e-mail at the last minute that soccer was on so Dave and Savannah left at 7:40 this morning to head to quiz bowl, leaving me and Preston home for soccer.
It turned out to be a beautiful day, but boy was the field muddy! There were two huge puddles of mud in the middle, which was comical seeing boys kick and run through. Although they lost pretty bad, Preston played a great game and wore the team captain band pretty well. :)
Meanwhile, Dave and Savannah were at podunkville with regional quiz bowl competition. Savannah said that her team won two matches, so that is good. They are still traveling back so I don't have all of the details yet. I do know it's been a crazy busy Saturday, with an even busier Sunday ahead as I shipt shop, mystery shop, and prepare for a lot of sub days next week.

3rd Grade Musical ~ Land of Liberty
Tonight was the long awaited third grade musical at PSE!
Preston was so excited to be chosen from his class to have one of the speaking parts introducing his class song.
The kids all did a great job celebrating our freedom.

Pitiful Preston
What started as congestion and cold symptoms turned into full-blown crud by Sunday night. Preston woke me up shortly after midnight and was on fire. He had a fever of 102.1 and was just miserable. I gave him Motrin and tried to get him back to sleep, but it was a challenge. Being that the flu is going around like crazy at school I took him first thing Monday morning to the doctor. He still had a high fever, but thankfully it responded quickly to Motrin. She opted not to test for flu as even it was confirmed they would treat it the same, with liquids and Motrin and rest. So we went home and settled in for a day of rest. The poor guy felt so bad that he barely moved from the sofa all day. His nose running and sore throat were the worst symptoms, but the fever was pretty scary. By dinner, he at least wanted to eat some applesauce so that was an improvement.
Thankfully he woke up this morning feeling much better. He slept through the night, didn't have a fever all day and was back to his normal inquisitive, bubbly, active self. He ate a bit less, but still was back to eating and even did some online work that his class was doing at school. Needless to say, after two days at home we are BOTH ready to be back at school tomorrow. :)
