Thanksgiving Weekend Recap

This year we didn't travel or host for Thanksgiving . . . and although it was untraditional and odd not being with extended family, it was marvelous just staying in Charlotte together.  We had a leisurely morning and did a run through the neighborhood (even though the official one was canceled due to the threat of rain) and enjoyed time at home as a family.  We also did our annual family pictures before dinner and were thankful to have that off the list.  Having Savannah home for 10 days has been such a treat, and I'm sad to send her back to UNC today.  BUT, she'll be back in just 3 days after the last day of class. :)

These three found a yummy peanut butter pie recipe and enjoyed sampling the ingredients after it was all made.  We had homemade macaroni and cheese, chicken tenders, rolls, and carrots for our Thanksgiving meal.  It's not about what you eat but the time you spend together.. . and after this weekend my cup is full!  We are so incredibly blessed.  It's been a rough year with a lot going on, but we are all happy and healthy; for that we are so, so grateful.  We also have an amazing group of friends here in Charlotte and a church that we love.

To wrap up the weekend, Dave and Preston drove to Wake Forest to see Clemson men's soccer play in the playoff game tonight.  Unfortunately, they lost in overtime, but the boys had a great trip and Preston loved being able to be the driver all the way to Wake Forest!

So now we are officially in the holiday season.  My house is a disaster and half decorated, track seasib starts this week for Preston, and the to do list is ever growing, but bring on the holiday adventures!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Savannah has been blessed with an awesome CRU small group, a sweet group of girls with whom to hang out.  This weekend they ventured to one of the girl's mountain homes for some time away from campus.  They cooked meals, went to the movies, and enjoyed just hanging out together.

She has also enjoyed playing on a girls' flag football team.  They weren't exactly the greatest LOL but she had fun playing!

And they have become quite the regular football fans . . . even for a cold late-night game!

UNC Games Abound

Savannah is loving all the opportunities to attend UNC games.  She has been to so many different games, both men's and women's, and is thankful for her friend Reagan, who also loves a good game.

I'm grateful she enjoys getting out and going to games, but also for Dave who took the time to teach her all about soccer, basketball, and football.  Knowing how the games work makes them so much more fun (and makes her look more than just book smart LOL).  Here's hoping the basketball season is a bit better than football has been . . .

Trick or Treats Teen Style

It was so odd this year being home solo on Halloween.  Preston went around the hood in his soccer "costume" with his buddies collecting as much candy as he could, Savannah was on her way home from college via the train and Dave was at work.

Although he was a little disappointed with the amount of candy this year he still managed to collect over 300 pieces, which was over 10 pounds!

It was so nice to end the night with Savannah arriving home and watching some One Tree Hill as a family. :)  Some may think teenagers are too old to trick or treat, but I'm thankful they took the opportunity to enjoy an adventure together in a safe and fun way!

For King & Country Concert

Dave received a gift of meet and greet tickets to the For King and Country  Concert and was thrilled to finally be able to take Preston.  I'm only guessingPreston's face was something about the massive pizza they had for dinner at the concert . . . but who knows! LOL

They had a swell time and enjoyed the Q&A beforehand even though their question didn't get answered.  I'm so thankful Preston enjoys concerts and that the boys were able to experience this together. :)

Preston's First HOCO

Today was Providence's homecoming and Preston was excited to attend with Brooke.  Although it was quite chaotic in the days before trying to figure out which group was going together (and making sure other guys were attending) they all ended up having a good time . . but Preston quickly realized how overrated homecoming is. LOL

Pictures were at southpark and they enjoyed pizza for dinner at 800 Fahrenheit before the dance.

Thank goodness for his buddies, Graham and Chase, who agreed to go along with the group so he wasn't the only guy!

Teen Weekend Adventures

Preston has barely been to school this week . . . Monday they were out because of the hurricane and Thursday/Friday were previously scheduled teacher workdays.  So we could take full advantage of the Bin store Friday morning. . . although it was a big bust!  Nothing to be found of worth!  Preston wondered if this big bunch of flowers he found would be sufficient for his HOCO date. LOL

Saturday was his first time refereeing for kid soccer.  He had a blast and made bank too!

And this cute girl had a blast at the UNC home game . . although they lost again!

I spent my weekend running around doing Shipt trying to make up for a crappy week and also doing some mystery shopping. Dave was happy to watch the Clemson game and get caught up on some work.  Just another ordinary weekend with everyone doing their own version of fun. :)
