Soccer Tourney & UNC!

This weekend Preston had a soccer tournament in the Greensboro/Burlington area.  It was quite the mess with several day/time/field changes (due to crazy rain and bad weather) and we ended up missing a game morning update and our team showed up at the wrong field!  By game time coach asked why our field had players on it and it was then we found out we were at the wrong soccer COMPLEX!  The game we were playing was 20 minutes away.  OOPS! Thankfully they waited for our team to arrive to start the game and the boys pulled out a win!  We then raced to UNC to pick up Savannah so she could watch the second game and enjoy dinner out too.

I headed back to Charlotte and the boys drove Savannah back to school and stayed overnight in the hotel for the Sunday game.  It was quite the crazy weekend but oh so good to have all my people in one place!

Long Weekends Rock

Savannah does not have Friday classes this semester and since Monday was another wonderful mental health day at UNC, classes were canceled . . . so she came home Thursday and didn't have to go back until Monday afternoon. :)  We ran a zillion errands and enjoyed a lot of downtime at home, nothing fancy, but it was just fabulous to all be together.  One of the exciting things she wanted to do was try out this new store Reclectic.  The grand opening was on Friday at noon.  We showed up at around 11:45 to find no less than 1000 people in line waiting to get in!!!  It was INSANE!!!  She smartly said "no way, I'm hungry" so we headed home instead of waiting in the insane line that probably would have taken 2+ hours to just get into the store!  But on Sunday once it had calmed down (and had been completely picked over) we walked right in.  It was a bit of a bust, but probably because everyone had already bought the good stuff. LOL  We will definitely have to try it again soon.  Never the less, we all had a super fun low-key weekend.

Eagles are Back on the Field

Preston's club soccer team started their season with a local tournament this weekend.  It's a relatively new team (with a new coach) and attendance at practice has been rough for most of the team since we had to practice so far away . . but they played hard and really worked well together!  They did win one of their games so hopefully they can work on finishing at practice to get more points on the board!

Last Winter Track Meet

Winter track is a super short season . . and being injured for the first part of the season really shortens it even more!  Nevertheless, Preston was excited to be able to compete at the meet today. It was at the local high school that is brand new so their facilities are quite nice.  He ran well, but there was a small collision with the relay team in the lane next to him (they were DQed for being in his lane) but they still did great.  I was reminded how much I dislike meets that are SOOO long, but thankfully we were able to leave before 5pm because his events were earlier.  Now he just has to focus on healing and being ready for spring outdoor track and soccer which is approaching game time fast.

Sadie's on Saturday

But first, Track!  Today Preston had his first winter *indoor* track meet with the school.  It was super far away (his school is so old they don't have a track fit for meets so we will travel for every meet, winter and spring). He didn't have a record time, but it was fun watching him compete and to experience the real live timing.

After track, there was a short break before he went to the Sadie's dance with Kadence.  This was such an odd experience because he had only met her in person once and that was AFTER she asked him to go to the dance at her school. He was a bit concerned because he was the only guy in the group and didn't know any of the girls except one from church.  Plus it wasn't at his own school.  But, he made the best of it and ended up having a great time.

Actually, he had so much fun he texted and asked if he could go to the after party . . . so we said yes, which made for a really late night.  I think overall it was a fun experience but next time he'll probably make sure there is at least one other guy in the group. :)

Friday *Fun*

One of Preston's favorite things to do is going to Where Ya Bin in Matthews on Friday mornings.  Honestly, it's a sacrifice for me because a)the place is nasty, b)Preston takes FOREVER to go through his cart of crap, and c) you have to be there super early to take part in the stampede of getting in line to hope to be first in the store. But, he loves it so I try to get up super early to finish my workout and have time to get there before 8am any day he happens to have Friday off. Today was sort of a bust.  I mean who returns a used side car mirror?!?  I did find one thing to list on ebay and a canister of Isagenix but nothing super exciting.

And to finish off a "fun" day we had ice cream after dinner from Marble Slab to celebrate the end of exam week!

Braces are OFF!!

Honestly, I thought Preston would be more excited than he was . . . but I'm thrilled that the braces are finally off!!!  He couldn't wait to eat an apple.  It was the one thing that he wasn't allowed to eat and actually obeyed. Somehow we managed to go through the entire treatment and never lose a bracket or have to go in for extra treatment.

And if getting braces off wasn't exciting enough, look at this sunset!  WOW!  The sky was just magnificent after I dropped Preston off for soccer so I had to take a couple of pictures.
