He Finally Scored a Goal for School

In his new position of striker he has been itching to score for the school team all season.  Very, very few goals are scored at all in each game so when he made the first score today we had to celebrate with icecream out!  Woo hoo!

Best Buddies Field Trip

Preston has really enjoyed being a best buddy again this year.  They have had SO many special field trips (Top Golf multiple times, races, and other events) to help the special needs kids at JMR feel honored.  I love how they always send them off with a clap out in the hallways of school. :)  Today was a super special event as they were competing against other schools in track and field.  I tried to gently remind Preston that it wasn't all about winning, and more about making sure the buddies felt special and had fun.  He wasn't exactly thrilled about the thought of being slower, but off he went.

While I was out working the principal sent me texts with pictures of how awesome their team did.  They won FIRST place!! I love this picture where Preston is congratulating his buddy!

It turned out to be a super fun day, for both Preston and his buddy!  I love his heart and the way he is learning how we are all different and can be celebrated in different ways; JMR does it well!

The Last Senior Midweek

I think this "last" caught Savannah a bit off guard as she was actually a little emotional about the last midweek at church as a senior.  These girls have led with such servant hearts and are an amazing group!

A Night Out

Dave and I enjoyed a night out at a wedding for one of his coworkers this evening.  It was quite the feat to get there with so much traffic and we didn't make it in time to see the bride walk down the aisle, but it was fun none-the-less.  Dinner was fantastic and look who showed up as a surprise, sir purr!

UNC Chapel Hill Here She Comes . . .

It's finally official!  This amazing girl is headed to the University of NC at Chapel Hill in the Fall.  It was a hard decision (as we all just knew she was going to end up at Clemson) but there is no doubt this is where the Lord wants her to be!  I joked with Savannah that the only other thing she needed was a neon sign from God to confirm the decision.  ha!  So today we went out for TCBY while the boys were at soccer to celebrate the decision AND to celebrate a nice-sized scholarship that came her way!

Spring Break Wrap Up in Charleston

This has been a most unusual week for Spring Break.  Of course, there were the normal activities of going to the bin store and Carowinds, but Preston also got braces and Savannah worked a LOT!  Preston also did a lot of dog walking (and earned $550!) and I've spent a lot of time gathering quotes for gutters, mulch, mowing, floors, pest control and more.  So it hasn't exactly been super fun, but we were thankful to end the week in Charleston for the Cooper River Bridge Race.

According to Savannah, it didn't matter how long the wait was, we were waiting for her favorite chicken and waffles!

Thankfully, by Friday Preston's braces were feeling a bit better so he was able to slowly enjoy chicken and waffles as well. :)

We waited WAY too long to book a hotel room (ok, so I forgot with everything else going on) and we ended up staying about 2 miles away from downtown so it made things tricky with getting Dave to the race start and also back to watch him.  BUT, Savannah's excellent navigation skills made it happen.  We were excited to see Dave run by in record time and then to enjoy the race freebies afterwards.

Some of us enjoyed the free stuff a little too much . . .

According to Preston, this year's giveaways were much better . . prime and boxes of Dave's killer bread bars!

My favorite tradition is the picture booth! We were sad that they no longer had the big red CPI chair, but the picture booth is always a hit!

We made it back to Charlotte without driving through any major accidents, just some minor hiccups with delays.  Charleston was a fun way to wrap up Spring break and a nice change of scenery.  So here's to finishing the last quarter of school strong.  There sure won't be any downtime with senior events, club and school soccer, and all the craziness of two graduations and parties galore.

Braces are BLAH!

The day Preston has been dreading finally arrived . . . the start of orthodontic care. :)  After two long hours at the orthodontist we made it home to start a diet of non chewy, soft foods.  Honestly, he was in quite a bit of pain Tuesday afternoon that even Motrin didn't touch.  This morning was rough too and he said it hurt to run so we let him skip soccer practice tonight.  He's had LOTS of milkshakes and frostys, applesauce, eggs, and oatmeal.  I knew he was in a lot of pain when he said it hurt too bad to even eat pizza!  I think the pain might be similar to jaw surgery, but without prescription pain meds . . . but thankfully this time he can actually use a straw and enjoy desserts.  Here's to hoping he's much improved tomorrow!
