Track Banquet

Tonight all of the track athletes were honored at the spring banquet.  Although Preston was injured at the end of the season and didn't have a chance to post qualifiying times for conference, he had a fantastic season and really enjoyed being on the team.  Here's to hoping he can stay injury free next year!

It was a fun way to end the season, although it was a SUPER long night.

Memorial Day Festivities

To enjoy the long weekend Dave and Savannah decided to go to the UNC baseball game uptown.  Unfortunately they lost, but at least these two had a swell time. :)

On Monday, after getting Preston's car serviced, we all ventured out to play mini golf.  We couldn't decide what we wanted to do and went back and forth about it all day, but it turned out to be perfect weather for outdoor golfing.  It was cloudy and started drizzling a little as we were leaving which really cooled things off.  Dinner was complete with homemade macaroni and cheese, and BBQ that we picked up on the way home.  Now we're officially ready for Preston to wrap up school and be done for the summer!

Soccer Semi-Finals

Dave and Preston headed back to Wilson this morning for another round of soccer.  Unfortunately, the boys lost in a close, well-fought match, but the bright side is that they were able to make it home for dinner!  It was the last club game Preston will play, so it was a bit bittersweet, but we know it's the right decision for him.  He hasn't always been the biggest fan of his coach this year, but he did progress as a soccer player so we are thankful for that!

Treat to Celebrate

As a belated fun treat, Savannahh and I went to TCBY so I could get my mother's day yogurt.  We got back so late from soccer this weekend that I wasn't able to benefit from the free mom's day cup, but at least I had a coupon! :)   So glad to have my girl home for the summer!!

Year 2 Done ~ UNC Move Out Day!!!

We literally rolled stuff across the street from one dorm to the next!

I cannot believe this beauty is finished with her second year at UNC!  Dave and I drove up this afternoon to move her out.  We had reserved a storage unit and planned to move all of her junk there, but at the last minute, her new boss said she could just move everything to the office.  (With the new position, she has her own office where she will have to hold office hours, so there was a nice little storage area sitting empty over the summer.) She loved her new role as an RA and is thrilled to be able to serve as a RAM next year.  The only negative thing is that she has to switch dorms.  We both loved her room in Horton, but next year she is going to be in a much older dorm and have to share a bathroom with 6 other girls . . . still better than a hall-style bathroom, but it will just be different.  She is gung ho about her new position though, so we are rolling with it!

Bye, bye amazing Horton

All of her stuff crammed into her new office!  The blessing is that everything is already in the correct building for next year, so move in should be a breeze!

Mother's Day on the Soccer Field

Preston's club soccer team attended the state cup tournament this weekend . . . yep, Mother's Day weekend.  We arrived Saturday in time for the first game and then stayed the night in Wilson, NC for the second day of games.  The boys did super well and made it to the final round of games on Sunday, and had to go to penalty kicks after two rounds of overtime.  They pulled out a win, which means they get to go back to Wilson for the semifinals next weekend too.  Nevertheless, we didn't pull back into Charlotte until 10pm on Sunday.  It was a fun, yet exhausting and hot weekend.

Happy Mother's Day to me!  I do have to say I enjoyed seeing Preston back in the game after being out for SO long with an ankle injury.

Everyone But Mom Be Busy

The adventures started Friday night for Savannah when she had Intervarsity dinner and semiformal.  What a beautiful group of women!!

Dave drove up Friday night late to spend the night with Savannah so he could run the Tarheel 10miler this morning.  Meanwhile, back in Charlotte, Preston left at 8am for a full day of class, soccer, and flight!  He had all his bags packed, including a lot of food to give him energy for the day.  First up was UNCC Charlotte for an AP exam review session. Then it was to SC to support his soccer team (he's still out of commission with his sprained ankle), and finally he was off to the airport for a flight.  Unfortunately, it ended up being too windy to fly, but he was able to use the simulator.

Preston, with all his gear, ready for the day!

Dave wasn't super happy with his time, but he said he still enjoyed the course (minus the massive hill at the end).  He and Savannah enjoyed the race festival and walking around downtown before he headed back to Charlotte this afternoon.

They took a picture with Wish Waffles before he left to come back home. :) Unfortunately, my day of Shipt was extremely slow, but it was nice to get a leisurely start to a Saturday for once, and having a nice, quiet house on the weekend was a treat too!

So now we are wrapping up the afternoon and preparing for another crazy day tomorrow . . . church, work, homework, and Preston is also doing Cotillion tomorrow night.  But first, he has a church social event tonight!  Always an adventure . . .
