PHS Homecoming ~ Guys Only

After the craziness of last year's homecoming, Preston was dead set on not going with a bunch of girls this year. LOL  Although he did get the opportunity to double date with a friend, he passed and instead decided to just hang out with the guys in the neighborhood.  They all got cleaned up and went to dinner at Red Rocks (fun fact, that's where we had our rehearsal dinner) and then had a sleepover at Graham's house. Apparently, it's totally lame to go to the actual dance, so these guys just hung out and had a blast.  So thankful for this awesome group of guys who are such great friends . . . and generally make good choices!

Happy 52nd Birthday Dave!

Today we celebrated this amazing guy's 52nd birthday!  He always so selflessly gives of himself to help things run smoothly around here, often on just a fraction of the sleep he needs.  So today we were excited to celebrate him!!  We plan to go out to eat when Savannah is home this weekend, but we were able to surprise him with balloons, a few little gifts, and a Bruster's ice-cream cake!  YUMMY!  Here's to another fun year together with much laughter (often at ourselves) and super sweet memories!

Labor Day Adventures

We have had such a fun weekend!  Savannah came home on Friday, after her interview at the campus bookstore, and was able to stay home through tomorrow morning as her first class is later on Tuesday.  We have run a million errands, done lots of shopping, eaten out at Red Robin AND Texas Roadhouse, emjoyed a local festival, and watched a good amount of TV too.  Preston's insane schedule with work, flight, and soccer meant only two dinners as a family, but we made the most of them!  He came straight from soccer practice to dinner tonight and quickly ordered three baskets of bread for himself as soon as he sat down. :)  Oh, how I love having everyone home together!!!  The extra day off today has been a blessing, as both kids had work to catch up on before we jump back into our regular schedules.

Preston's Back to Prov

Sadly, summer is officially over, and both kids are back in school!  Preston was not so happy to start the new wake-up routine super early this morning, but Dave put on some special music to make it oh so much better. ;)  10th Grade here he comes!!  Praying he can somehow manage the stress of 3 AP classes, working at Harris Teeter, completing flight hours, volunteering at church, running track and playing soccer for school, and also club travel soccer.  It's going to be a FULL year!

FDOC for Savannah at UNC

This beauty started her second year at UNC today!  Technically, she's a senior by hours, but we are still saying it's her sophomore year. ;)  She was excited to go to the study center for dinner and took a quick picture with some old and new friends.  Praying for an amazing year . . and that those darn curtains stay on the wall! LOL

Divide and Conquer!

This weekend was a bit crazy!  I had already planned to go back to UNC to help Savannah finish setting up her room and take a few things that wouldn't fit in the cars last time . .  and then we found out that Preston had two school games in Asheville at the same time.  SOOOO, we split up and Dave took Preston to Asheville Friday afternoon, and I went to UNC Saturday morning.

Preston was thrilled to play in the Friday night lights, and they even announced the starting lineup over the loudspeaker, which was also super exciting.  His team won both games, Friday and Saturday, so that was just an added bonus!

Meanwhile, Savannah and I worked as hard as we could on her room.  We were ready to throw the curtains out the window because the huge rod kept falling off the wall, but we did the best we could (using a LOT of super glue), and I left pretty late with things still unfinished.  We did, however, make time for a quick YoPo run for frozen yogurt.  YUM!

All in all, it was a super fun weekend with many things accomplished and lots of fun memories made!

Happy 47 to Me!

Today was a great day!!  I had a few good orders in the morning, took Preston to the dermatologist to put his mind at ease, met Savannah for dinner to enjoy a family meal together, and then was surprised with balloons and a super yummy treat from Preston.  My heart is full!

Savannah was pretty insistent that we meet up for dinner halfway.  So despite my worrying about her highway driving solo, we agreed as long as the weather permitted.  It's literally rained for DAYS, but the Lord provided a beautiful afternoon for our drive to Greensboro, and it did us all so much good!  So thankful for this family and for the blessing of another year with them!
