3rd Grade Musical ~ Land of Liberty

Tonight was the long awaited third grade musical at PSE!

Preston was so excited to be chosen from his class to have one of the speaking parts introducing his class song.

The kids all did a great job celebrating our freedom.

Pitiful Preston

What started as congestion and cold symptoms turned into full-blown crud by Sunday night.  Preston woke me up shortly after midnight and was on fire.  He had a fever of 102.1 and was just miserable.  I gave him Motrin and tried to get him back to sleep, but it was a challenge.  Being that the flu is going around like crazy at school I took him first thing Monday morning to the doctor.  He still had a high fever, but thankfully it responded quickly to Motrin.  She opted not to test for flu as even it was confirmed they would treat it the same, with liquids and Motrin and rest.  So we went home and settled in for a day of rest.  The poor guy felt so bad that he barely moved from the sofa all day.  His nose running and sore throat were the worst symptoms, but the fever was pretty scary.  By dinner, he at least wanted to eat some applesauce so that was an improvement.

Thankfully he woke up this morning feeling much better.  He slept through the night, didn't have a fever all day and was back to his normal inquisitive, bubbly, active self.  He ate a bit less, but still was back to eating and even did some online work that his class was doing at school.  Needless to say, after two days at home we are BOTH ready to be back at school tomorrow.  :)

Savannah's Stacked Sunday

After a low key Saturday (since soccer was rained out) today has been crazy!  After church and Sunday school Savannah headed to lunch with some friends for Anna Kate's birthday.  They had a yummy lunch at Chuy's and then went out for ice-cream too.  She came home, changed and went straight to basketball.  Unfortunately, her team lost in the first round of playoffs, but they still had a super fun season!

We are home to wrap up homework, have dinner, and then head back out for her NAV Bible study.  It's a crazy day to start off a crazy week with Dave travelling out of town most of the week.

Clemson Basketball!!

Dave received tickets to a Clemson basketball game for Christmas and today was finally game day!  It was a beautiful day in SC and even better to see the Tigers pull out a close win over Virginia Tech. :)

Super Bowl Weekend

Preston had a blast at Ben's birthday party
This has been a super busy and fun weekend!  In between mystery shops, Shipt shops, errands, church, Dave's 10-mile race, a birthday party Preston went to, basketball for Savannah, and dinner out last night we have enjoyed having Ashley spend the weekend with us!  Alyssa had a volleyball tournament all weekend so we had the pleasure of having Ashley stay with us.  The kids were in heaven having entertainment all weekend long. :)

We were thankful not to have any big plans for the Superbowl because currently the kids are all snuggled up waiting for the volleyball champ to come back and make the trek back to Greenville, SC.

JMR Jamboree

Today was the first quiz bowl meet of the season.  Savannah's team did a great job!  They won 2 of the 3 matches by a landslide (like triple the other teams' scores) and almost won the middle match but ended up losing by 15 pts.  It was a fun Saturday morning . . . one where I left feeling quite dumb compared to these middle schoolers!

NYE Projects & Fun

Recovering our breakfast table chairs has been on my "to do" list for a LONG time . . . and today Savannah was ready to tackle the project.  I started with the first one and just had Savannah help me, but honestly, it didn't turn out great.  So for the next chair, I just let Savannah take over and it turned out awesome.  She was like "I'll unscrew the bottom and gather the corners; I'd do the nail gun too if you'll let me."  Well she went to town and I became her assistant. :)

After tackling half of the chairs we went out for some fun at Chuck E Cheese!

Both kids had a BLAST!!  It's a rare treat that we get to go just spend some time playing games AND for mom to pay, but the kids really have been awesome over break so I thought they deserved some fun!  Plus, it is New Year's Eve. :)  Chuck E Cheese himself helped Savannah play Wheel of Fortune before being mobbed by little kids.  Just for the record, Preston was also in attendance, but he was running around so fast (not wanting to waste our 45 minutes of free play) I couldn't even get his picture!

So we came home, finished the chairs, knocked a few more things off my never-ending list, had dinner, enjoyed bundt cake for dessert and are all ready to bring in 2019.

2018 has been quite the year.  We are finally all feeling at home in our new house and are thankful to be happy and healthy too.  At dinner, the kids and I talked about a few goals for the New Year.  Here are a few of them:

Me - continue with exercise every day of the week, continue not leaving any gym class early, continue only eating between 10am - 7pm, add in one new recipe a week for the family and limited dessert treats ( to encourage Savannah on her goal)

Preston - to practice soccer 5 days a week, only have one serving of gum a day

Savannah - to only have dessert 3 days a week, reading through the Bible in its entirety this year

Dave - two thumbs down . . he's never made resolutions and never will

Here's to a wonderful, happy, healthy, fun-filled, memory-making, Christ-filled 2019!!!
