Preston's Week at Home

It has been a challenge to find things to keep Preston busy this week.  Thankfully he has spent some time playing outside with his neighborhood friends and also working.  He decided he would finally start the project of pressure washing our nasty driveway.  It took three days but he finally finished the top part and earned some extra money.

Today Maks was able to join us at Carowinds for the day.  These two had a blast!!  I had mystery shops I needed to do so I worked and they played for nearly 6 hours.  All in all it's been a good week, but we all are missing our Savannah.  What are we going to do when she goes to college????

Carmel Kidz Counselor ~ BEST week of Summer

Savannah left to be a counselor at our church's kids' camp today.  According to her, it is the best week of summer!!  I grabbed this quick picture of some of the girl counselors when I dropped her off.  They were EXCITED!

I love watching her in action.  What joy on their faces and in their hearts after a week away in the mountains.  So thankful for Savannah's heart for others and her willingness to serve . . but mostly her love for the Lord!

Sooo much luggage to unload :)

Atlanta Bound for the Braves

We bought tickets to a Braves game for Papa's Father's Day gift and the boys were excited to finally attend a game in person this year.  So on Saturday, Dave and Preston headed to Atlanta for a fast and furious weekend with his parents. And Savannah and I were thrilled NOT to have to watch a nightly Braves game on TV :)

Although the Braves lost, they still had a fun time at the game!

Camp McCall

Way far in the mountains of SC is a Christian camp for boys called Camp McCall.  Preston's friend Ben has been raving about it for some time and they were supposed to go last year until Preston woke up with Covid on the day they were supposed to leave.  BUT, we managed to arrive in the beautiful mountains with two healthy boys ready for a fun week of (unairconditioned) boys' camp!

After check-in, they were on their way.  I'm sure there will be stories to be shared on Friday!  Until then, be safe and have a blast!

Escaping on a Slow Saturday

We are all still trying to get readjusted and caught up from being gone so long . . . but decided we needed to take a break to enjoy something fun today.  It had to be indoors because of the extreme heat and also because Savannah and I are still burnt . . not to mention this tropper girl just had all of her wisdom teeth removed on Friday morning.  She is doing great and was eager to get out so we all agreed to do an escape room.  Needless to say, it was HARD and we were all frustrated by the time we finished, but hey, at least we got out of the house for a bit. :)

Bachmanns in the Bahamas

We set sail for our Bahamas cruise Saturday afternoon and were all so excited to get away for a week to enjoy some sun and unplugged family time.

I think it took these two about 10 minutes to find the soft serve

It was such a treat to have a balcony!  You can see the Cooper River Bridge in the background.

And shortly after finding the ice cream, Dave and Preston changed and hit the water slides NONSTOP for the rest of the day.  Day two was not fantastic because it rained/stormed all day long while we were at sea, but we tried to make the best of it and played lots of indoor games.  Here are a few pictures from our trip.  It was so nice to enjoy a book and not have to worry about cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc

Preston was convinced it was just the church coffee that was bad . . but nope, it's all coffee that tastes terrible! LOL

Half Moon Cay was beautiful . . but unfortunately, our Target sunscreen did not work when the can was almost empty so Savannah and I were fried!

We had such a great trip!  The food was excellent, the service was fabulous and we managed to survive with access to the Internet on just one phone all week.  Memories made and rest received!

Summer Week 2 ~ VBS & Wake Forest

It has rained ALL week here in Charlotte.  I mean every day, all day!  The kids have been busy serving at VBS so at least they have had something to do in the morning.  Today we had an extra little adventure as we had scheduled a sunset tour of Wake Forest. Still, rain forecasted. . .

We were a bit unlucky in that it did indeed rain during the entire evening so we didn't get the best feel for the campus, but honestly after the super boring presentation we could have gone home and skipped the tour.  We are pretty sure this one is off the list.  It was interesting to hear about Wake Forest, but for a lot of reasons, none of us feel like it would be a great fit for Savannah.

We did get to eat at a yummy BBQ place before the tour started and of course, these two sillies had to take some pictures.  The search continues for Savannah's college home . . we continue to pray for guidance and direction and for a super easy decision for our Gracie Bell!
